I need to change the prescription of my glasses. I spotted this the other day on Bring A Trailer and thought it said S6 Avant not RS 6 Avant so I just skipped over it (not that there's anything wrong with that). Too bad but not too late. In my defense, who would have thought a C5 RS 6 Avant would be legal in the States with our 25-year import law? So that begs the question...how is this legal in th...

With the earlier Audi RS2 Avant legal to import into the States now, the prices of them have slowly started to rise. That in turn is dragging the lesser sporty Audi vehicles upwards in price also. But some vehicles are worth it and I think this is one of them. Some may prefer the Avant over the coupe and while I love Avants, there's something about a Coupe quattro that I prefer over this generation's Avant....

Product planners configure vehicles to see what they think will work or not. Occasionally, they will spec out a vehicle that that is loaded with options normally not seen on American shores. When the product planning team is done with it, it's reconditioned and sent out for sale. This Q7 S line is one of those vehicles. It truly is a 1 of 1 in this option in the US.
In addition to this Q7 having t...

When was the last time you saw an Audi V8? When was the last time you saw one with only 218km (135 miles)? It was Audi's first car powered by a V8 hence the simple name of V8. As the name implies, it's powered by a 3.6L V8 (the 4.2L were in models built from 1991 to 1993). Hans-Joachim Stuck and Frank Biela drove the competition model V8 to back to back DTM titles in 1990 and 1991.

With the RADwood and Youngtimer movements, cars from my youth are climbing higher and higher in price. The silver lining though is that examples of these cars are popping up everywhere and in fantastic condition but...the price reflects this. Here's a fantastic example of an Audi Quattro for the low price of $85,000. Ok, now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's look at this time capsule. Here's th...

How does one stand out of a crowd? Back in 2015, Audi of America had an answer...they let loose their Audi exclusive group to tailor a total of 25 S3s: 5 in Sepang Blue, 5 in Misano Red, 5 in Vegas Yellow, 5 in Viper Green, and 5 in Glut Orange. This particular car is one of the Glut Orange five.

Every once in awhile, a car comes across my screen that will send me into daydream race car country...like this APR Audi Sport customer racing RS 3 LMS. I've just wasted about an hour dreaming of driving this at Laguna Seca or VIR or anywhere instead of actually finishing this article or packing for Monterey or even cooking dinner for my hungry pack of teenage boys. The last time we featured an R8 race car Find o...

It's been said the Auto Union 1000SP Coupe was inspired by the Ford Thunderbird and there's no argument from me. From grille to taillights, it's a mini 1955 T-Bird. First shown at the 1957 Frankfurt Motor Show, the coupe was in production from 1958 to 1965 (there was a roadster version produced from 1961-1965). Over 6,500 coupes and roadsters were eventually built. But while the Thunderbird was pow...

With Audi Sport celebrating 25 years of RS models this year, it got me searching for the OG RS - the RS2 Avant. As one knows, the 25-year exemption for shipping early build RS2s to the States is upon us and the supply of them are very limited...less than 3,000 were produced. We've featured several RS2s as our find of the day: here, here, and here.

The other day, I fell into a Silver Arrow rabbit hole on YouTube and all of a sudden, I wanted a Type C. Sadly, not many survived. They were either scavenged for parts for later models or were destroyed during the war. Over a dozen were rumored to have been taken back to the USSR as war prizes. Today, one Type C, three Type D cars, and a Type C/D hill climb car remain.
There are several drivable replicas in the world and if you're...

Back in August 2018, we broke the story of the return of the A4 Ultra sport...and the demise of the manual transmission. For those who aren't familiar with the 2019 A4 Ultra sport, Audi of America decided to earmark the last 40 A4s as manual transmission cars. The Ultra sport spec was formulated to be as sporty in appearance as the S4 but with a manual transmission.
As we stated in the aforementioned article, all of the cars were built identically. First, the...

In a former life, I was fortunate enough to drive a 2012 R8 V8 6sp manual on the fabled track at Sebring. For the next several months, that car came in and out of my life and let me tell you...it was heaven (humble brag shot of me at Sebring following).
My fondness for the OG R8 grew and grew and I decided that if I could ever be in the position to own an R8, it would be a MK1 V8 R8 6sp manual in Brilliant Red. So imagine my delight when I stumbled acr...

Well this is different. If you've never heard of Spyker, they are a (very) small Dutch bespoke car manufacturer who just happen to source the Audi 4.2l V8 for their C8 Laviolette coupe (pictured here), C8 Spyder, and the C8 Aileron (long wheel base). Their interior is to die for as you'll see in the photos.
This particular C8 Laviolette is for sale on Long Island. It includes the original sticker which shows a price of $209,990. However, the dealer is...

For every single find of the day vehicles I've featured, I've never had a personal attachment nor even seen one in person...with the exception of this car. This car is owned by our Editor-in-Chief of quattro Magazine, George Achorn. George used to be the one of the owners of Vortex Media Group (vwvortex.com, fourtitude.com, swedespeed.com) but sold the sites in 2015. We were fortunate enough to snap him up when he came back onto the scene. As such, t...

The normal find of the day featured here are exotic or sexy or rare. This is, however, none of those. Well, except for maybe rare especially in this condition. This is a 1965 Auto Union F-1000D Bus. Yeah, I had to look it up also. While it wears the four rings up front, its heart is a 4 cylinder Mercedes diesel located between the two seats.
The seller claims it has original paint and only 42,556km. It was in Spain for a long time but now resides in The Ne...

Ok I'm going to put this out there...yes, I know this is not Paul Newman's personal vehicle. Several weeks ago, this same Avant popped up for sale and there was confusion on whether or not Paul actually owned it or not and then it delved into a heated conversation. I was planning on doing a FOTD but held off and eventually forgot about it. But then, it popped up again on Bring A Trailer.
I just spent the weekend with a B6 Nogaro Blue S4 Avant so the want is...

The B7 RS 4 in a word? Oof. A brawler in a business suit. A bull in a china shop..ok I don't think that one quite fits. Regardless, this is one of Audi's greatest Q-ships. Audi enthusiasts will spot one immediately but the average person? Not so much. They just see an Audi. From the bulging fenders to the big oval exhaust tips in the rear, this car oozes sexiness.
This particular example is painted Daytona Grey Pearl with Platinum leather/black ...

Wait...didn't we just do this the other day? There have been a plethora of Ur-quattros in our find of the day lately - Der Kommissar 1985 Amazon Blue and the 1985 Zermatt Silver one. Der Kommissar has 83,000 miles and is available for $55,900 and the Zermatt Silver has 209,008 miles and is listed for $58,900. Aside being an Ur-quattro in common, they are both offered in the States so buying them would be relatively easy. This one? She's located i...

It's been a good several days for Finds of the Day: the RS2 Avant, the Imola Yellow RS 4, the Amazon Blue Ur-quattro, and the Holy Grail, the 1986 Audi Sport quattro. All special cars, all desirable cars, all hard-to-find cars so why would I feature a plain Jane Audi 80 Avant with ugly wheels? Because of this:
Some mad scientist shoved a 4.2 V8 under the bonnet. Apparently this isn't an uncommon swap as I've found several YouTube videos on V8 swap...

The RS2...almost the Holy Grail of Audi enthusiasts. Good news for us in the States as the 25 year rule falls to the wayside this year. This particular example (located in Belgium) will be legal in October but maybe you should think about jumping on it now and store it until October.
Why jump on it now instead of waiting? It's only listed for €39,900 ($44,602.41USD). One RS2 we featured was listed at €69,911 ($78,150.36USD). Granted th...
