Echo Lake Driving Tour – Evergreen – Saturday, August 24th, 2024
For our August club tour we will meet at the “Wolly Mammoth” park and ride lot, drive through the canyons of Turkey Creek and end at Echo Lake by Mt Evans! Our day will begin at the park & ride: 18560 US-40
Golden, CO 80401. Participants in the tour should arrive by 9AM. There will be a mandatory driver’s meeting at 9:00AM and the plan is to leave by 9:15AM.
We will be heading west, to south Lakewood on C470 then continue through Deer Creek Canyon on to Turkey Creek Rd and pass by Evergreen lake into a the hills and up through to White Gulch. Once on White Gulch, we will continue ascending to Squaw Pass and up to Echo Lake! Once at Echo Lake, we will pull off for a round up end meeting and everyone may continue as they please from there. We’d suggest gathering at the wonderful Westbound & Downbrewery/restaurant in Idaho Springs.
Total tour time is estimated at 1.55 hours and ~67 miles (~1.75 hours of drive time).
Schedule
- Meet at Wolly Mammoth Park & Ride 8am on Sat. June 24th
- Mingle with club members for ½ hour, read the rules and head out by 9:15am
- Drive goes to Echo Lake on Squaw Pass arriving potentionally around 11:00am
- Most direct way back to Denver is down the rest of Squaw Pass to Idaho Springs, then East on I70.
Please have your car gassed up, drinks, snacks, and restroom break completed so we can leave at 9:15. There will be restrooms at our starting location. A map will be provided of the route to every car.
