Please come join us for the third biennial NAAC road run and Collings Foundation visit. Following an optional scenic “fun run” drive, we’ll arrive at the Collings Foundation in Stow, MA where we’ll have a docent-guided tour of the Foundation’s hanger and car barn, not normally open to the public. This collection includes over 60 vehicles from the early-to-mid 20th-century, with a variety of midget, sprint, Indy and other race cars and a remarkable collection of fully restored road cars ranging from the brass era to the forties. In addition the hanger is home to a half-dozen of the Foundation’s smaller aircraft including an original 1909 Bleriot XI, a TBF Avenger and late 40s T-33 jet trainer.

But wait! There’s more! New this year is the recently opened American Heritage Museum, a very well-presented collection of American and foreign tanks and other armor and artifacts ranging from WWI, through the Viet Nam era, to the recent Middle East conflicts.

Yes, the collection even includes an example of the infamous SCUD missile. Excellent video and mixed media presentations only enhance the experience.

The road run portion will gather Saturday morning at Alpha Cars, 649 Massachusetts Ave (Rt. 111) in Boxborough, MA.  Click here for directions. We would like everyone there for the road run by 9:30 AM, but Alpha Cars is hosting a “Cars and Coffee” that morning, so feel free to arrive anytime after 8:30.

if you want a look around Alpha Cars and/or take advantage of the coffee and goodies. The road run will depart at 10:00 AM for a 40+ mile drive over scenic roads in the central Massachusetts area. We plan to arrive at the Collings Foundation in Stow, MA around 11:30, and start the guided hanger and barn tour at noon. Following that, you have the option of “bring your own” picnicking on the grounds and/or visiting the American Heritage Museum, which is open until 5 PM.

Aside from picnic supplies, you may want to bring a blanket or folding chairs, and be prepared for sun as there is not a lot of shade on the grounds. In the event of excessive heat or rain the picnic can be held indoors. There are a couple of opportunities to buy picnic-type food along the route.

Cost is $25.00 per person for Audi Club North America members and $30.00 per person for non-members, regardless of what portions of the event you attend; all proceeds go to the Foundation to cover their fees. Any type or make of vehicle is welcome. If you opt not to do the road run, please arrive at the Collings Foundation by 11:30. The (new) address for the main entrance is 568 Main St (Rt 62), Hudson, MA. Note: GPS may not be accurate. The (unnamed) entrance road is off Main St. (Rt 62) in Hudson, MA, 200 feet east of Kane Industrial Drive. If in doubt, check the satellite view here (the map view does not show the entrance road.)
