From the Start Line to the Summit: Audi at Pikes Peak
As Sunday’s Race to the Clouds has concluded, we look back to share the results of the Audi competitors in the running of the 104th Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Presented by Gran Turismo.
Fortunately, the mountain did not assert its voice with the same violent winds as last year. Last year, the strong winds limited the course length to Glen Cove, about halfway, due to safety concerns. This year remained quite enough for participants to run a full course through qualifying as well as Sunday’s race.
Audi entries recorded six official finishes in the 2026 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, with Trevor Aweida’s Audi 4000 quattro leading the brand’s efforts. The field showcased nearly five decades of Audi performance history, from the original 1983 Audi quattro and S1-inspired tribute car to modern TT RS, TTS, and RS 3 models, highlighting the enduring connection between Audi and America’s Mountain.
Trevor Aweida – 1984 Audi 4000 quattro
Trevor Aweida delivered the highest-finishing Audi result of the day, piloting his vintage Audi 4000 quattro to 39th overall and seventh in the highly competitive Pikes Peak Open division. His 11:01.096 run showcased the enduring capability of Audi’s legendary quattro drivetrain on America’s Mountain. Trevor and his father, Dan, were six seconds apart for the day. This is timely, considering race day was in conjunction with Father’s Day.
Christian Ghimbos – 2012 Audi TT RS
Christian Ghimbos guided his Audi TT RS to a solid finish of 45th overall and tenth in Pikes Peak Open. His 11:30.167 ascent continued the strong presence of modern Audi turbocharged performance cars on the mountain.
Matus Huska – 2010 Audi TTS
Representing another chapter of Audi’s turbocharged sports car lineage, Matus Huska finished 52nd overall and 14th in Pikes Peak Open. His Audi TTS completed the course in 11:42.152.
Josh Tenge – 2012 Audi TT RS
Josh Tenge’s TT RS crossed the summit in 11:55.677, earning 54th overall and 16th in class. Despite increasingly challenging conditions later in the running order, Tenge successfully brought another Audi to the finish.
Rob Wilmoth – 2018 Audi RS 3
Audi Club North America volunteer and rookie competitor Rob Wilmoth completed his first Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in his Audi RS 3. Wilmoth finished 57th overall and 11th in the Time Attack 1 division with a time of 12:19.508, successfully achieving the goal of reaching the summit during his debut appearance on the mountain.
Alex Kim – 1987 Audi S1 Pikes Peak Tribute
Driving one of the most iconic Audi-inspired machines in the field, Alex Kim’s Audi S1 Pikes Peak Tribute finished 59th overall and 19th in Pikes Peak Open. His 12:26.968 run provided fans with a modern homage to the legendary Audi Sport quattro S1 that helped define Audi’s history at Pikes Peak.
David Hackl – 1983 Audi quattro
Unfortunately, due to mechanical challenges, David Hackl’s classic Audi quattro was unable to record an official finishing time. Despite not reaching the summit, the presence of the original quattro on the mountain served as a reminder of Audi’s storied Pikes Peak legacy.
