Audi Q9 Interior Preview Shows the Brand Going Full Luxury Flagship

We have been waiting for this for a long time and now we finally have our first official look at the all-new Audi Q9. Well, at least the interior. The full reveal should take place in about two months from now. But for the moment we can focus on the interior. Audi has long been known for their spectacular interiors, but some feel they have lost their mojo recently. Maybe so, but this Audi Q9 is a big step in the right direction.
“With the Q9, ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ is increasingly defined by the in-car experience,” says Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “Cars have long been much more than just a means of transportation; they are mobile living spaces for our customers. Premium materials, variable seating with individual electric seats in the second row, and automatic doors underscore the commitment to quality in our new, large full-size SUV.”
Maximum Comfort
The upcoming Audi Q9 is designed to maximize comfort and interior space, offering both six- and seven-seat configurations. Buyers seeking a more luxurious experience can choose optional second-row captain’s chairs with power adjustment and active ventilation for true business-class comfort. Up front, available sport seats add massage and ventilation functions for a lounge-like feel. Families, meanwhile, can opt for the seven-seat layout, which allows three child seats across the second row. Audi also included power-adjustable seating and electrically folding third-row seats for added practicality.
The new Audi Q9 introduces fully electric doors, a first for Audi and a feature designed to make daily use easier and more convenient. Drivers and passengers can open or close the doors using the key fob, the myAudi app, the infotainment system, the brake pedal, or even the seatbelt buckle. Wide-opening doors improve access when loading groceries, child seats, or strollers, while built-in surround sensors can automatically stop the doors if obstacles are detected in tight parking spaces. The system can also help improve safety by identifying approaching cyclists or nearby traffic before a door swings open.
Panoramic Roof
The new 3-row SUV features a massive panoramic glass roof designed to make the cabin feel bright, spacious, and ultra-modern. Measuring roughly 1.5 square meters, the roof can open wide for an open-air driving experience, while smart glass technology allows passengers to individually darken any of the nine glass segments for added glare protection and privacy. The laminated glass also reflects infrared heat and blocks more than 99.5 percent of UV rays, eliminating the need for a traditional sunshade. When parked, the roof automatically frosts over to keep the interior private. Higher trims add integrated LED lighting with 30 customizable ambient colors for an even more luxurious atmosphere.
The cabin of the new Audi Q9 is designed to feel more like a luxury lounge than a traditional SUV interior. Ambient contour lighting stretches across the dashboard and doors to emphasize the cabin’s width, while indirect lighting beneath the panoramic display and center console creates a floating visual effect. Audi also added a full-width interactive LED light strip that communicates vehicle information and even reacts to occupants.
Sound and Materials
Paired with the available Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system, the lighting becomes part of the entertainment experience. The system can synchronize lighting effects with music while matching colors to album artwork. Headrest speakers allow for private navigation prompts and phone calls, while seat-mounted actuators let occupants physically feel the music through vibrations built into the seats.
The interior of the new Audi Q9 focuses heavily on luxury materials and a calm, upscale atmosphere. Audi expanded its interior options with new fabrics, wood trims, and premium upholstery choices including alpaca wool blends, Dinamica microfiber, leather combinations, and fine Nappa leather. Buyers can also choose from elegant trim finishes like natural ash wood, lime structure wood, or carbon fiber accents.
Modern and Relaxing
Audi says the cabin was designed to feel both modern and relaxing, with coordinated colors and a greater emphasis on matte and textured surfaces instead of fingerprint-prone gloss finishes. New color themes such as tamarind brown and stone beige further enhance the premium feel.
The new Audi Q9 doesn’t just focus on luxury, it also adds a surprising amount of practicality. Audi designed the cabin with generous storage solutions, including a redesigned center console that features dual wireless charging pads and high-powered USB-C ports capable of delivering up to 100 watts. The system can fast-charge two smartphones at the same time using the latest Qi2.2 standard.
Cargo space also gets a clever upgrade thanks to a new aluminum rail system built into the trunk. Sliding hooks and adjustable anchors allow owners to secure luggage and gear without sacrificing floor space for larger items. Audi even includes a roof rack with every Q9, further emphasizing the SUV’s blend of premium comfort and real-world usability.
We should get the full reveal this summer, but we like what we see so far. Audi could use a big win right now and the Q9 looks like it could be it.
