For years, Audi owners have been able to enjoy their favorite Spotify playlists through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Bluetooth. But now Audi is taking things a step further. The German automaker has become the first car manufacturer to introduce Spotify’s fully native in-car app, bringing a more complete music and entertainment experience directly to the vehicle’s infotainment system. And perhaps best of all, you don’t even need your smartphone.

Unlike traditional smartphone integration, the new Spotify app runs directly through Audi’s MMI system. That means drivers can access their music, podcasts, and playlists without connecting their phones. The app also takes advantage of the vehicle’s displays and controls, creating an experience designed specifically for use inside a car.

More Than Just Music

Of course, simply playing Spotify without a phone isn’t exactly revolutionary. What makes this integration interesting is the additional functionality. The new app brings features such as Spotify DJ, which uses AI-powered recommendations and commentary to create a personalized listening experience. Audi owners can also access shared playlists and discover new music directly through the infotainment system.

Perhaps the most interesting additions are music videos and real-time lyrics. When the vehicle is parked, occupants can watch supported music videos or follow along with lyrics on the vehicle’s display. Once the car starts moving, the system restricts visual content to help minimize driver distraction. It’s a clever way to make the infotainment system more entertaining without turning the dashboard into a rolling movie theater.

Coming to Select Audi Models

The new Spotify experience is being introduced on select Audi vehicles equipped with the latest infotainment technology, including certain 2026 models. Availability depends on the vehicle, market, and software configuration. For Audi, the announcement represents another step toward making its vehicles more connected and digitally sophisticated. And for owners, it means easier access to the entertainment they already enjoy, without relying on their smartphones.

Will a native Spotify app make your Audi any faster? Unfortunately, no. But it might make sitting in traffic a little more enjoyable. And considering how much time we spend behind the wheel, that’s not a bad upgrade.
