Watch and Hear the Audi RS 3 Competition Limited Be Pushed to Its Limits
[Source: AutoTopNL]
A couple of months ago Audi announced the RS 3 competition limited. It was conceived as a tribute to the iconic Audi 5-cylinder engine that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Only 750 of the special cars will ever be made. And one of them found its way into the hands of the folks at the AutoTopNL YouTube channel. And as usual, they didn’t waste the opportunity.
If you are not familiar with AutoTopNL, they don’t just talk about quilted leather and heated seats, they push the cars they test to the limits. They test out launch control and then do high speed runs on the autobahn. And that is exactly what we are treated to in this video. Eight solid minutes of the RS 3 competition limited showing us what its got.
Performance
So, what does it have? Well, it makes the same 394 horsepower as the regular RS 3. In the video, we see that is enough power to get the car from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.79 seconds. And before running into some traffic the car was able to touch 256 kph (about 160 mph) on the autobahn. Not bad.
But a car like this is about more than straight line speed and a cold set of stats. It is about grip and emotion. Reduced insulation around the firewall means the wonderful 5-cylinder engine sound reaches the occupants even more directly. The valves open earlier in the Audi drive select modes dynamic, RS Performance, and RS Torque Rear, meaning that the car’s throaty sound is even more pronounced.
Enjoy the Ride
This car also features a truly track-capable suspension setup. It comes with a factory-developed coilover suspension paired with a stiffer rear stabilizer, ceramic brakes, and Audi’s torque splitter. While there is no track testing included in the video, we do get a chance to see the car attack some twisty back road and stay firmly planted while doing it.
Plug in some headphones, turn up the volume and watch and listen to the RS 3 competition limited be put through its paces. If you are having a tough day, we promise you will feel better after just eight minutes. Enjoy.
