Ok...this 1939 DKW is in MUCH better condition than our last 1939 Find of the Day. I've actually seen this one run and drive and it's in phenomenal condition. Here's the ad:

It was obvious to everyone that sporting success had a major impact on vehicle sales which in turn spurred on competition on the track

I'll admit...I'm no historian when it comes to Audi history. Sure, I know about Auto Union, Wanderer, Audi, Horch, NSU, and DKW. In 1932, DKW merged with Audi, Horch, and Wanderer to form Auto Union. After World War Two, Auto Union (based in Saxony) found itself in East Germany. In 1949, it was reformed in West Germany as Auto Union GmbH. In 1957, Auto Union was under the Daimler-Benz umbrella and then was...

Well this is new...or rather old. We've featured an Auto Union DKW F89L van before as a Find of the Day but I've never seen a pickup version such as this restored model. This one is in Argentina where apparently its lived its whole life...but you can bring this one home as it's well past the 25-year import law in the States (& 15 year in Canada). Here's the ad:

I was really excited...I found a pristine Mars Red 1983 Audi Quattro that was perfect; started to write about it, and then...thought to search on our website to see if I had posted it before and lo and behold, I did back in September 2019. I was fooled by new photos of the Quattro. Oh well...it's still for sale if anyone is interested.
However, this Find of the Day I know I've never feature...

As I prepared to fly solo on last night's Find of the Day: Throwdown Edition, I couldn't help but look back at last week's Audi Club vs Audi of America episode. While our guests were winning round after round, a vocal group of viewers were proclaiming that George should have won two of the rounds: Audi dealer stock and Audi classic. Here they are:

The last time we feature an Auto Union 1000SP Coupé as a Find of the Day, it was located overseas and was a Thunderbird-esque red with a white top. This one is much closer and is silver with white leather. How close? Despite wearing Ontario tags, it's located in Pittsburgh, PA.

It's been said the Auto Union 1000SP Coupe was inspired by the Ford Thunderbird and there's no argument from me. From grille to taillights, it's a mini 1955 T-Bird. First shown at the 1957 Frankfurt Motor Show, the coupe was in production from 1958 to 1965 (there was a roadster version produced from 1961-1965). Over 6,500 coupes and roadsters were eventually built. But while the Thunderbird was pow...

The normal Find of the Day featured here are exotic or sexy or rare. This is, however, none of those. Well, except for maybe rare especially in this condition. This is a 1965 Auto Union F-1000D Bus. Yeah, I had to look it up also. While it wears the four rings up front, its heart is a 4 cylinder Mercedes diesel located between the two seats.
The seller claims it has original paint and only 42,556km. It was in Spain for a long time but now resides in The Ne...

A highlight for Audi enthusiasts at last weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed must surely be Hans Joachim Stuck taking to the hill in an Auto Union Type C. That particular Auto Union silver arrow configuration with quad rear wheels is the very same his father Hans Stuck dominated many hillclimbs back when the Silver Arrows represented the latest in racing future tech.

There’s no doubt that the pre-war Silver Arrows are firmly entrenched as one of the biggest legends in the world of auto racing. Even still, it’s much less known that they ran but once in the USA during those contentious years leading up to World War 2. Nevertheless, it is most definitely the case that 80 years ago July 5th marks Auto Union’s sole race and victory with Bernd Rosemeyer taking the 1937 Vanderbilt Cup.
For their day, racecars like the Auto Union Type C represented a mix o...
