This 2-Foot-Long Audi RS 6 Avant Model Has an 8-Speed Gearbox, Adjustable Suspension, and Incredible Detail

The Audi RS 6 Avant has always been a pretty convincing answer to the question, “What if I want one car that can do everything?” Unfortunately, putting a real one in your garage requires a hefty financial investment. CaDA has come up with a considerably cheaper alternative, although you’ll have to assemble this RS 6 yourself, all 4,663 pieces of it.

The new CaDA Master Audi RS 6 Avant is an officially licensed, 1:8-scale recreation of the C8-generation performance wagon. And calling it a model doesn’t quite communicate how substantial this thing is. Once assembled, it measures 60.3 centimeters, or about 23.7 inches, from bumper to bumper. It’s also 10.2 inches wide and 6.6 inches tall.

That enormous scale gives CaDA room to reproduce some of the details that make the real RS 6 special. The model captures the wagon’s long roofline, wide-body wheel arches, aggressive stance, and familiar proportions. Better still, CaDA uses printed pieces rather than stickers, so you won’t spend hours building your Audi only to finish the job by trying to perfectly align a tiny four-rings decal. The really impressive stuff, however, is underneath.

CaDA says the RS 6 features an eight-speed gearbox, adjustable suspension, functional steering, and a detailed recreation of the V8 engine. The hood and doors open as well, making this far more mechanically interesting than the typical static model sitting on your office shelf. It’s a fitting approach for the RS 6. After all, much of the appeal of the real car comes from hiding some serious engineering beneath the body of an otherwise practical wagon. CaDA has essentially recreated that philosophy with building blocks.

Of course, assembling 4,663 pieces isn’t going to be an after-dinner project. This is clearly aimed at adult builders and Audi enthusiasts who enjoy the construction process as much as displaying the finished product.

There’s also the price. The CaDA Master Audi RS 6 Avant currently lists for $349. That’s serious money for a building-block model, but you’re getting a two-foot-long, officially licensed Audi with thousands of pieces and an unusual amount of functional mechanical detail. And compared with the price of a real RS 6 Avant, $349 is downright reasonable. Just make sure you have a very large shelf.
