Hulkenberg’s First F1 Podium Marks Milestone for Future Audi Team

After 239 Grand Prix starts, Nico Hülkenberg finally claimed his long-awaited first Formula 1 podium, finishing third at a rain-soaked Silverstone in a remarkable drive from the back of the grid. The celebrations inside Sauber’s paddock hospitality were well-earned, with music, champagne (courtesy of surprised rivals Mercedes and Aston Martin), and team-wide joy.

Hülkenberg’s performance didn’t just mark a personal triumph, it was Sauber’s first podium since 2012, signaling a major step forward as the team transitions into Audi’s official works F1 squad next season. Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley praised Hülkenberg’s drive as one of the best he’s ever witnessed and expressed confidence that, with the right car, the veteran driver could even win races.
