Scott Newell never imagined he’d win an Audi. In fact, years ago, he never imagined he’d own one. His love for cars started simply—with a camera. “In my early twenties, I couldn’t afford the type of cars I wanted, so I started photographing them.”

That camera became an avenue into the automotive world, allowing him to admire the machines he was drawn to and connect with the culture surrounding them. What began as a creative outlet soon evolved into a passion, a community, and an unexpected sweepstakes win that still leaves him in awe.

As Scott’s passion for cars grew, he became involved with various car clubs, but something about Audi Club felt different. “What really stood out to me were the people—not only passionate about cars but also genuinely caring for one another. They don’t care what car you drive—though, of course, they love Audis.”

Living in Colorado, it was hard not to notice how Audis dominate the mountain roads. “Audi is kind of the unofficial car of the Rocky Mountains because of its quattro system – perfect for these roads.” Drawn in by both the cars and the community, he became a regular at club events—spirited drives, winter ice-driving, and gatherings that celebrate performance and camaraderie. With his camera in hand, he began documenting these moments, helping strengthen the club’s culture and creating lasting memories for fellow enthusiasts.

A longtime supporter of the Club’s annual sweepstakes fundraiser, Scott had purchased tickets for years, viewing it as a way to further the Club’s educational mission. “This year, I was excited about the 2025 RS 3. Audi improved its Nürburgring performance, which appealed to me since we do a lot of rallying in the mountains. The idea of winning it was thrilling, but I thought there’s no way I’m going to win anything,” he admitted. So much so that he bought a 2024 Python Yellow RS 3 in the fall and thought that was that.

Then came the call in January. “I thought it was just a message from my chapter. When I listened, I was absolutely speechless.” He had won the 2025 RS 3—a car he never imagined winning through a sweepstakes. It was a surreal moment that took time to sink in.

However, Scott had already fallen in love with the RS 3 he’d purchased. After modifying it, he decided to forgo accepting the 2025 model. Instead, he used his sweepstakes winnings to further customize his yellow RS 3. He’s excited to continue driving this car alongside fellow Club members through the Rocky Mountains, where the real joy lies not only in the car’s performance but in shared experiences with others who are equally passionate about Audi and the community they’ve built.

The sweepstakes is more than just a chance to win an incredible car—it’s a fundraiser that makes Audi Club’s programming and community-building possible. It celebrates what truly matters: the passion, camaraderie, and shared drive that brings people together. Reflecting on his experience, Scott sums it up: “I never imagined that the kid behind the camera would be here today, helping others showcase their passion through photography and winning one of these incredible cars. It’s been quite the journey. I’m very grateful.”
