Find of the Day: 2007 Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Manual in Monterey Blue

photos: cars & bids

With the Audi Club crew gearing up to attend the Legends of the Autobahn during Monterey Car Week, it seemed appropriate to feature a Monterey Blue Lamborghini as a Find of the Day as Monterey is literally crawling with Lamborghinis during the week. According to VinWiki’s Ed Bolian (current high bidder as of publication): This is 1 of 23 US Manual LP640 coupes (10 Roadsters). 1 of 88 manual LP640 coupes worldwide and the only known one in Monterey Blue (now renamed to Blu Nethuns). If anyone would know this fact, it would be Ed. Doug’s Take

Wow! Now this is a special car! The Lamborghini Murciélago is an iconic exotic supercar that boasts gorgeous styling and a fantastic naturally-aspirated V12 combined with all-wheel drive. This particular example is a later LP640 model, which features a larger-displacement engine offering more power, updated bumpers and taillights, and a cool single center-exit exhaust – and it touts the very rare gated 6-speed manual transmission, along with a gorgeous Monterey Blue exterior. It also features some cosmetic upgrades that enhance its look – and it’s equipped with the Carbon and Branding packages, 18-inch Hemera wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, a front axle lift system, and a Kreissieg valvetronic exhaust system. These Murciélago LP640s are fantastic cars, and I’m excited to see one here on Cars & Bids.

Highlights

THIS… is a 2007 Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Coupe, finished in Monterey Blue with a Nero Perseus and Grigio Sirius interior.

  • This Murciélago features the desirable 6-speed manual transmission.
  • The attached Carfax vehicle history report shows no mileage discrepancies in this Lamborghini’s past.
  • According to the build sheet provided in the gallery, factory equipment includes the Carbon and Branding packages, 18-inch Hemera wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, a front axle lift system, xenon headlights, scissor doors, active rear intakes, and a speed-activated rear spoiler.
  • Modifications reported by the seller include blue painted brake calipers, a Kreissieg valvetronic exhaust system, AutoMods skid plates, partial paint protection film, and quilted Alcantara upholstery. A full list of modifications is detailed below.
  • Lamborghini introduced the Murciélago for the 2002 model year as the replacement for the Diablo. Designed by Luc Donckerwolke, the Murciélago was the first new Lamborghini model released under the supervision of Volkswagen Audi Group. It received a 6.2-liter V12 paired to a six-speed manual transmission, with later cars receiving an optional E-Gear automated manual. Production of the Murciélago ended in 2010.
  • Launched in 2007, the Murciélago LP640 received multiple updates, with the most notable being the engine. Lamborghini increased the displacement of the V12 to 6.5-liters, which gave the LP640 a near 60 horsepower bump. On the exterior, the LP640 was also given new, more aggressive front and rear bumpers, LED tail lights, and a single-exit exhaust. Most LP640s produced were fitted with E-Gear transmissions, making the gated 6-speed manual examples incredibly rare.
  • Power comes from a 6.5-liter V12 engine, rated at 631 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission and a permanent all-wheel drive system.
