Find of the Day: 1988 Audi 5000CS Quattro Avant Hits Auction Block Without Reserve

This 1988 Audi 5000CS Quattro Avant has everything you want in a classic long roof Audi. A turbocharged 2.2L 5-cylinder engine, a five-speed manual transmission and legendary quattro all-wheel drive. Add to that low miles and a clean Carfax report and this Zermatt Silver Metallic C3 Avant listed on Bring a Trailer should get plenty of attention.

Some Audi enthusiasts today lament over the good old days of the brand. This 1988 Audi is from those good days. Sure, it doesn’t have the technology and power of a modern Audi, but it has timeless styling, solid reliability and is built with high quality materials. This car would look just as at home cruising through the ski village of Aspen, Colorado today as would have 37 years ago.

Specs and Features

Slide inside this classic Audi and you are greeted with a Platinum leather cabin. Features include automatic climate control, a power sunroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats, a split-folding rear bench, and a retractable rear cargo cover.

Push the accelerator pedal into the carpeted floor mat wearing the signature four rings logo and you will summon all 162 horsepower and 177-pound feet of torque. That power flows through the quattro all-wheel drive system and a locking center and rear differential for when conditions get a bit dicey.

Known Flaws

This car is wonderful, but it is also old enough to run for president so there are a few issues to be aware of. The air conditioning, stereo, and power locks are not working. The central trip-computer display in the instrument cluster is also not currently working. The 15-inch 205/60 Michelin Defender tires are from 2017 so we would recommend them being replaced as soon as possible.
