E-Legend EL1 EV Harks Iconic Audi Sport quattro Era with New Electric Car

It’s hard to know what to make of the new E-Legend EL1. From a design standpoint, this new electric car startup pays obvious homage to the Audi Sport quattro. However, its relationship to Audi beyond appearance remains to be seen. With its looks alone though, we figure it’s something our audience would want to know more about.

The EL1 electric coupé is powered by three electric motors powered by a 90kWh battery pack. The firm behind the car, known as E-Legend, shares that their 3703 lb. baby boasts 805 bhp, a 248-mile range and does 0-62 mph in 2.8 seconds.

“The goal of E-Legend is to transfer analog primal instincts of emotional driving into the modern world,” the company stated, also sharing that the EL1 is “based on a super-light and proven carbon monocoque”, from an unnamed component supplier.

So, is the EL1 the Audi Sport quattro reimagined in the era of the electric car? It would seem it boasts some impressive claims to the throne. Though not produced by Audi, the project is said to be built by prototype specialist Roding Automobile. It was designed by Marcus Holzinger, formerly of Volkswagen design and whose father worked on the original Sport quattro. Its 5-spoke wheels are obviously inspired by the original Speedlines of the Sport quattro Group B rally cars, while the battery park comes from the J1 component set… meaning Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan.

Only 30 examples of the EL1 will be sold at a price over one million dollars each. E-Legend also added that it plans two more rally-inspired models in the future, though did not confirm whether they’d focus on other Audi models or legends from other brands.
