J1-Based Porsche Wagon Spied Testing. Will Audi Build Long-Roof e-tron GT?

We’ve known a wagon version of the Porsche Taycan was likely. Heck, Porsche showed a concept version of it even. So, that engineers from Weissach are testing a Taycan SportTurismo near Porsche HQ isn’t necessarily that big of a deal… especially on an Audi e-tron focused website. Or is it?

Here’s what we know. The Porsche Taycan is based on the Volkswagen Group’s J1 electric vehicle matrix. That matrix is a Porsche development, but the intention is for it to be shared across the Volkswagen Group. As a matter of fact, it underpins the upcoming e-tron GT.

Whether or not the e-tron GT gets an Avant version remains to be seen. We’ve heard rumors it might, and let’s be honest… high performance long roofs are sort of an Audi thing. Given also all the attention that the RS 6 Avant is getting, and we’d argue there’s even more of a business case.

So what do you think? Should Audi build an e-tron GT Avant?
