Carfection – Audi RS 6 Performance vs Mercedes-AMG E63 S

[words: Bill Cho, video and stills: Carfection]

It’s been awhile since we posted a video so when this one popped up, resistance was futile. So let me start by saying…yes, I know we don’t get any iteration of the RS 6 here in the States. Yes, I know this is Audi Club North America so why am I posting cars that we can’t get…yet.

Carfection recently got their hands on an Audi RS 6 Performance and a Mercedes-AMG E63 S. They didn’t do a ‘normal’ comparison that involved drag races nor bombing around the track. This was just a relaxed driving test to see which one the presenter desired.

On paper, both vehicles look the same. The RS 6 Performance has a 597hp, 553 lb-ft of torque twin-turbo V8, goes 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, and weighs 4,300 lbs. The Merc also has a twin-turbo V8 with 604hp, 627 lb-ft torque, goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, and weighs in at 4,542 lbs. Not that much of a difference.

Regarding us not getting the RS 6 Avant in the States, we do know that Scott Keogh, Audi of America President, loves the RS 6 and when asked what kind of Audi he would be, he said RS 6 Avant, because it’s hard to get, fast, super cool and I keep waiting for the avant revolution to replace the SUV revolution.

Yes!

So enjoy the Carfection video and keep asking Audi to bring this beauty to the States.
