Audi’s Newest Models Show Momentum Despite Challenging First Half Sales
[Source: Audi of America]
Audi of America recently released their second quarter and first half 2026 sales figures. Year-to-date sales were 67,916 units. That is a 17 percent decrease from the same period in 2025. However, second quarter sales were not as far off the mark. 38,030 units were delivered in Q2, which is just 3 percent off the pace of 2025. Look deeper at the numbers and you will see that the newest Audi models are selling well, which could lead to a recovery.
We gave you the bad news in the lead, but let’s focus on some positive signs for Audi of America. In Q1 2026, sales were down 30 percent compared to Q1 2025. Q2 has been much stronger with Audi selling just 1,212 fewer units this year compared to last. That is a positive data point, but not the only one.
The newer Audi models are selling well. Q2 sales of the A5, A6 and Q5 are up 9, 32 and 30 percent respectively. The new Q3 is not quite having the same luck with sales down 8 percent for the quarter. However, overall, it must be said that the new Audi products are selling well.
And as we know, Audi still has some new heavy hitters coming our way. The new Q7 and Q9 will be here soon. As will the A6 allroad. And the new RS 5 might not be a volume seller, but it is going to inject some excitement into the brand. And speaking of excitement, it doesn’t get much more exciting than the Nuvolari. These are all products that should help swing the sales needle in the right direction for our favorite automaker.
We asked the question a couple of weeks ago. Is Audi finally out of its slump? Well, the sales are still down but we expected that. It takes time for exciting products to turn into exciting sales numbers. But the product is the key. Audi has been refreshing their product and buyers are responding. And the best part is that Audi is far from finished with new product releases. The first half of 2026 sales might not reflect it if you just look at the total sales figures. But there are a lot of reasons to believe that the darkest days are over, and Audi is steaming towards a recovery.
