Event: L’OE Show 2024

To say Jamie Orr spreads himself too thin is probably a colossal understatement. The Youtuber and online personality known for his German car content, Live at Five Instagram broadcasts and importation of older cars, somehow finds time between globe-trotting to car shows and drive challenges to coordinate with the powers-that-be in his hometown of Pottstown, PA to shut down the town’s main street and throw a giant party for Volkswagen Group brand enthusiasts. Though there’s a cost to show, it’s free to attend and everybody’s invited. If you haven’t made it there just yet, then maybe you should.

L’OE Show began out of a vision Jamie began to formulate as he’d attend car shows in far-flung places such as England, Brazil and South Africa. He saw how events could be done, saw the once-monthly Pottstown Nights Saturday cruise-ins and wanted to combine it all to better serve both his literal community of Pottstown and his figurative car hobby community. He goes one further by coordinating with show vendors and filling in empty storefronts on the town’s main streets. As a result, the event is a boon to the local economy, and a bucket list gathering for enthusiasts.

This year, Jamie added a few extra elements. Even more gatherings and meets were planned at nearby parks and establishments, integrating automotive local establishments such as Red Horse Motoring Club and automotive supply catalogue house Eastwood whose headquarters is within Pottstown proper. He upped his game the parking of three modified shipping containers to present key display cars and serve as an event stage. He even created an area for special display cars you wouldn’t want to miss, things like an Auto Union 1000 SP, an Audi exclusive R8 GT or a whole class of RS2s that could thank his importation business for their presence in this country.

One block down the closed main street was the usual Audi block. Here, Audi Club’s national office combines with volunteers from Audi Club Eastern PA and Audi Club New Jersey to help manage the block and maintain an outreach presence. Nearby, FCP Euro took over an entire park with activities and merchandise sales. Other vendors such as Liquimoly, Unitronic, H&R, Hoonigan, Integrated Engineering, Solo Werks, Garnet Audi Reading and more maintained a presence.

Hundreds of cars and thousands of spectators filled the space on the main show day of Sunday. Brief rains didn’t slow them down (helped by free rain ponchos handed out by Garnet Audi Reading), all making for one of the most enjoyable enthusiast’s shows in the country. How Jamie pulls it off year after year, even with an army of volunteers, is a remarkable feat and something any enthusiast certainly shouldn’t miss.
