Audi Concept C Wins Design of the Year; Audi Named Best Advanced Design Team

Earlier this month, Car Design News (CDN) hosted their fourth annual People Awards and Audi picked up a couple of major wins. Audi was named as the Best Advanced Design Team. In addition, the Audi Concept C took home the Concept Car Design of the Year prize.

The CDN People Awards are selected by a group of industry experts across 19 different categories. Massimo Frascella, Chief Creative Officer at AUDI AG took to his Instagram account to thank his team and share how much these awards meant to him.

“It feels so incredibly good to be recognized globally by peers and colleagues. These awards, from designers to designers, mean so much to us. Audi Design team, this is yours to enjoy,” Frascella posted to social media. 

In the Best Advanced Design Team category, Audi beat out other nominees such as General Motors Advanced Design Europe, Lotus Creative, Mazda Design Europe, Peugeot and others. In the Concept Car Design of the Year category, the other nominees were not listed. However, given the sheer number of concept cars revealed each year, it is no question that the Audi Concept C win is a major accomplishment.

Audi was also nominated in several other categories but didn’t take home the win. The automaker was up for awards in the Best Clay Modelling Team, Challenging the Industry (for the E5 Sportback) and Best Interior Design Team categories.

Audi has taken some criticism over the last few years for their designs. With Frascella now onboard and the now award-winning Concept C pointing the way to a new design direction, we may be about to witness a return to some truly beautiful Audi vehicles.
