Unitronic JDC-Miller Second-Gen Audi in Shape and On Point

Coming off of the official IMSA-sanctioned pre-season test last weekend at the Roar Before the 24, which gave the Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team and drivers a proper first shakedown of its new second-gen Audi RS 3 LMS TCR, has everyone enjoying the new machinery and looking forward to kicking the season off right with results in the upcoming BMW M Endurance Challenge at Daytona, ahead of the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

Cole Scrogham, Team Engineer and Strategist said, “It’s immediately evident that the new Audi LMS Touring Car is more race car and less street car than the previous version. Our competition has always consisted of purpose-built race cars built around the homologated base model. The Audi, until now, has been a derivation of the street car adapted for motorsport, but it’s good to see some more motorsport oriented components, especially in the suspension and driveline, [which is] not so much as a performance add-on, but ease of operation and more consistent feedback to the drivers. Over time we should be able to learn how to generate performance gains from a more stable base chassis — right now we are learning systems and the drivers are getting a good “handshake” with the new LMS Audi.”

Cole’s sentiments about the second-gen Audi TCR being more race car and less street car should bring some much needed consistency and reliability to the squad’s championship campaign in 2023.

South African Mikey Taylor was upbeat about the weekend’s progress saying, “This new car has a lot of potential and with the awesome group of guys in our crew, I am confident that we can unlock the potential and finally compete for the championship against the team in blue. I’m feeling really good about the season ahead with the Unitronic JDC team!”

Chris Miller was extremely pleased with the pre-season preparation, which led to hitting the track running saying, “It was awesome to finally get behind the wheel of our new Gen 2 RS3 LMS TCR. Everyone worked so hard in the off-season to make this possible and the new car did not disappoint. It rolled off the trailer feeling great and is clearly a step forward both mechanically and in the technology Audi has included in the car. For the drivers and engineers this gives us a lot of tools to work with so I’m excited to develop and keep improving the car throughout the season. I’m confident we can win a lot of races with our new #17 Unitronic JDC-Miller Audi and I think it’s also fair to say we will have the best looking car on the grid this year. I can’t wait to get back on track in a few days to go for another win at Daytona!”
