This Weekend’s IMSA Racing Preview

On Saturday, July 12, at 1:20 PM EDT, five Audi RS 3 LMS will go racing in the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park 120. This race is part of IMSA’s Michelin Pilot Challenge race series. Located in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, also known to some older race fans as Mosport, is a classic “old school” track where big risks are required to reap rewarding lap times. Mistakes can be costly, especially in turns 2 and 2a or Clayton Corner. Frequent passing opportunities arise under braking for turns 5a and 5b, also known as Moss Corner, named for Sir Stirling Moss who suggested this corner’s layout when the track was being laid-out.

To help you identify the Audi RS 3 LMS among the entire 34 car field and the 14 Touring Car (TCR) class entries, please look through the photos taken by my good friend Alan Hoyt during the last TCR race at Watkins Glen International. The only car not running this weekend (according to the race’s entry list) is the number 31 from the RVA Graphics Motorsports By Speed Syndicate team. Hopefully we’ll see them at the next race on August 2 at Road America, also known as America’s National Park of Speed.
