The new Audi RS 5 hasn’t even reached most of the world yet, but Audi already has a problem most automakers would love to have, demand is significantly higher than expected. In fact, the entire 2026 production run is already sold out.

Audi says European orders for the new RS 5 are running at nearly twice the level originally forecast. According to the company, no Audi RS model has ever enjoyed a more successful market launch. That’s a strong vote of confidence for a car that represents one of the biggest changes yet to the RS formula.

RS 5 Avant in Singapore livery

The new RS 5 is Audi Sport’s first high-performance plug-in hybrid. When Audi revealed the car early this year, there were plenty of questions about how enthusiasts would respond to electrification becoming part of the RS experience. At least judging by the order books, European buyers don’t seem particularly bothered.

Deliveries began in Germany in June, with other European countries following. Now Audi is expanding the RS 5 beyond Europe, beginning with Australia and New Zealand. Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and other overseas markets will follow. In the United States, deliveries for the new RS 5 should begin in 2027.

Special Paint for Singapore Grand Prix

RS 5 Avant and R26

As that international rollout begins, Audi is giving the RS 5 a prominent stage at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix. Both the Sedan and Avant will be part of the festivities, with an RS 5 wearing a special Titanium Silver Gray finish inspired by Singapore at night. The bluish color changes appearance under different lighting and visually connects the road car with the Audi R26 Formula 1 cars driven by Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Unfortunately, Audi says the Singapore-specific color won’t be available to order.

The Formula 1 connection goes beyond a special paint job. Audi has been using the RS 5 Sedan in F1’s Hot Lap program since the Miami Grand Prix, while the Avant joined at the British Grand Prix. Professional drivers use the cars to give guests high-speed passenger laps during race weekends.

RS 5 Avant Wheel

Formula 1 gives Audi an enormous global platform to promote its newest RS model. But right now, generating interest doesn’t appear to be the problem. With European demand nearly double expectations and every 2026 production slot already spoken for, the bigger challenge may simply be building enough RS 5s to satisfy everyone who wants one.
