Join the Audi Club Sierra Chapter for a Drive & Dine Tour to the Heyday Inn in Wellington, NV.
Meet at the parking lot across from Pick-n-pull in Sparks, NV at 2221 Larkin circle just off of East Greg. There is plenty of room for us to stage/park. Meet at 10:15 am to group, then depart at 10:30 am.
This will give everyone enough time in the morning to fuel up their cars and themselves. If they show up and need fuel or coffee they are on their own, we will not wait for them, people need to prepare first.
This meeting location is an easy on/off to the freeway, especially for us as a group to head east on HWY 80.
East on 80 to USA parkway NV-439. (if necessary we can stop at the truck stop on NV-439. it’s a minute off of HWY 80) (Golden Gate Travel Plaza 500 NV-439).
South on NV-439 over hill to HWY 50. west on HWY 50 for 1/4 mile then continue south on ALT 95 to Yerington.
At Weed heights we will turn right (West) on Burch Drive. Take Burch Dr. up the hill to the top. There is a large parking lot at the look out for the mine/pit. Appx. arrival 11:45-12:00.
Spend about half an hour looking around and taking pictures (I will print out some facts about the open pit mining operation).
12:00-12:30 Continue south down Weed Heights Rd. to Alt 95/339. Turn right (South) on 95/339/208 to Wellington.
Stop at Heyday Inn restaurant (3 Wellington Cutoff, Wellington, NV (775)-465-2424) appx. arrival 1:00 to 1:30 pm. (I think having lunch at this time will be better than at noon). Check out their menu https://the-heyday-inn.hub.biz/app/online-menu
After lunch continue on 208 West to Topaz HWY 395. Then North on 395 back to Reno.
Reno to Yerington via the above route appx. 72 miles 1 hr. 14 min.
Yerington to Wellington (lunch) appx. 26 miles 31 min.
Wellington to Reno via Topaz/395 appx. 80 miles 1 hr. 25 min.
Appx. driving time 3 hr. 15 min.
Appx. mileage: 178 to 200.
It is a nice drive, especially through Smith Valley and through Minden.
