Grand Prix weekend in Montréal is a tradition that goes back all the way to 1978. The city transforms into a gathering place for motorsport fans from around the world, with every street, restaurant, and public square buzzing with excitement. This year, however, Audi Canada created something unique—a destination that brought together Formula 1 fans, Audi owners, enthusiasts, and the public around a shared passion for the brand.

Held at the historic waterfront pier that is home to Montréal’s iconic Clock Tower, Rue 26 became one of the most talked-about destinations of Grand Prix weekend. Against the backdrop of the St. Lawrence River and one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, Audi created an immersive experience that celebrated both its motorsport future and the passionate community that has supported the brand for decades.

Initial projections suggested the event might attract approximately 1,000 to 2,000 visitors. Instead, Montréal showed up in full force. In one evening, more than 4,000 attendees had passed through the venue. Not long after the gates had opened, a line wrapped around the street as visitors eagerly waited for their opportunity to experience the event.

From the moment attendees entered the venue, it was clear this was not a traditional automotive display. There was an unmistakable sense of community. Owners, enthusiasts, prospective customers, and Formula 1 fans mingled together, sharing stories, comparing vehicles, and celebrating a common connection to the four rings.

At the center of the event stood Audi’s Formula 1 challenger, the R26, providing many attendees with their first opportunity to see the brand’s future on motorsport’s biggest stage. The display served as a powerful reminder that Audi’s long and successful racing history has entered a new chapter.

Flanking the Formula 1 car were two equally compelling examples of Audi performance. On one side sat the all-new 2026 RS 5. It was an incredible sneak preview as this model is not yet available in the North American market. It is also a particularly significant and unique vehicle as it forms part of Formula 1’s Pirelli Hot Lap program. On the other side stood the R8 GT, representing the culmination of Audi’s legendary naturally aspirated supercar era. Together, the three vehicles created a visual timeline that connected Audi’s motorsport ambitions, current performance offerings, and recent heritage.

Yet as impressive as the factory displays were, the enthusiast vehicles surrounding them may have been the true stars of the weekend.

The 86 exhibitor vehicles represented an extraordinary cross-section of Audi history and culture. Walking through the display area revealed everything from modern RS 6 Avants and RS 3 sedans to meticulously preserved classics and rare enthusiast builds. A particularly notable highlight was an S1 quattro replica, a fitting tribute to the Group B rally machine that helped establish Audi’s performance reputation. Nearby sat a DKW, offering attendees a glimpse into the roots of the Auto Union story that ultimately evolved into the Audi brand we know today.

The diversity of the display was remarkable. TTs of various generations sat alongside R8 supercars, while numerous S and RS models showcased the breadth of Audi’s modern performance lineup. Every vehicle had a story, and every owner seemed eager to share it. The result was a display that felt authentic and personal rather than curated or corporate.

That sense of community was evident even before the event officially opened to the public. During a special VIP hour, vehicle exhibitors, invited guests, Audi representatives, and partners had the opportunity to mingle throughout the venue, share stories, and enjoy the displays in a more intimate setting. Owners who had traveled considerable distances to exhibit their vehicles found themselves in conversation with fellow enthusiasts, Audi personnel, and Formula 1 fans, creating connections that would continue throughout the weekend.

As the event opened to the public, the energy quickly intensified. Live DJ entertainment provided a constant soundtrack throughout the evening while crowds flowed between the vehicle displays and waterfront gathering spaces. Audi Collection maintained a popular retail presence on site, offering a wide selection of Audi Sport and Audi Revolut F1 Team merchandise that allowed attendees to take home a tangible reminder of the experience. Combined with the stunning waterfront setting and the constant excitement surrounding the Formula 1 display, the atmosphere felt less like a traditional automotive event and more like a festival celebrating Audi culture.

While Audi Canada deserves tremendous credit for envisioning and executing the event, the success of Rue 26 was also made possible through strong collaboration between the brand and its enthusiast community.

In the months leading up to the event, Audi Club North America and our Eastern Canada Chapter worked directly with Audi Canada’s event marketing team as a community partner to help build awareness, encourage exhibitor applications, and drive attendance. Through coordinated content creation, social media promotion, member communications, and collaborative amplification across both organizations’ channels, the partnership helped connect thousands of Audi owners and enthusiasts with the opportunity to participate in the event.

Audi Club North America’s Eastern Canada Chapter was a particularly critical partner in that effort. Leveraging its deep connections within the regional Audi community, chapter volunteers helped spread the word, engage prospective exhibitors, and ensure that enthusiasts from across the region felt welcome to be part of the experience.

The results exceeded expectations. What was initially envisioned as an event that might attract approximately 40 exhibitor vehicles and between 1,000 and 2,000 attendees ultimately welcomed 86 enthusiast-owned Audi vehicles and more than 4,000 visitors over the course of the evening. The overwhelming response demonstrated not only the excitement surrounding Audi’s Formula 1 future, but also the strength and passion of the enthusiast community itself.

A special thank you is owed to Kevin Yam, Vice President of the Eastern Canada Chapter, whose efforts were instrumental in bringing together owners and helping generate the level of participation that ultimately made the vehicle exhibition such a success. The strong exhibitor turnout reflected not only the appeal of the event itself, but also the dedication of volunteers, Audi Canada staff, and community leaders who recognized its significance and worked together to make it a success.

For many attendees, authenticity was what made Rue 26 special.

Automotive enthusiasts often devote countless hours to maintaining, modifying, restoring, and preserving their vehicles. They organize events, educate new owners, create content, and serve as ambassadors for the brands they love. Yet opportunities for enthusiasts to become a central part of a manufacturer-led experience remain relatively uncommon.

At Rue 26, Audi owners weren’t just spectators. They were participants. Their vehicles helped define the event’s character and created a direct connection between Audi’s future ambitions and the people who have helped sustain the brand’s enthusiast culture over generations.

Throughout the event, conversations flowed naturally between complete strangers brought together by a shared passion. Owners compared modifications and restoration projects. Formula 1 fans stopped to learn about classic quattro models. Members of the public who had never attended an Audi event found themselves immersed in decades of automotive history.

As the day turned to night, the excitement culminated in a spectacular drone show above the Montréal waterfront. The aerial display illuminated the sky with imagery celebrating Audi’s heritage, innovation, and Formula 1 future, creating a memorable conclusion to an already remarkable day.

As we reflected on the event, what stood out most was not the attendance numbers, the impressive displays, or even the R26.

It was the feeling

There was a genuine sense that Audi owners and enthusiasts felt seen.

For years, enthusiasts have represented some of Audi’s most loyal advocates. They purchase vehicles, attend events, preserve the brand’s history, and introduce others to the Audi experience. Events such as Rue 26 acknowledge the important role these individuals play in the broader Audi story.

While no single event defines a long-term strategy, Rue 26 felt like a meaningful step forward. It demonstrated the value of creating opportunities where enthusiasts, customers, and the brand can come together as partners rather than existing in separate spheres.

As Audi continues its Formula 1 journey, there is perhaps no better time to strengthen those connections. Motorsport has always been about passion, and that same passion exists throughout the enthusiast community that has supported Audi through every era of its history.

Our hope is that Rue 26 represents the beginning of a deeper and more consistent engagement with that community. The enthusiasm on display in Montréal demonstrated what is possible when owners and fans are invited to play a meaningful role in the experience.

The numbers alone tell an impressive story, but the true success of Rue 26 cannot be measured simply by attendance figures.

It can be measured by the conversations that took place, the friendships that were formed, the memories that were created, and the sense of belonging shared by thousands of people who gathered around a common passion for Audi.

If the excitement and enthusiasm witnessed in Montréal are any indication, the future of Audi’s relationship with its enthusiast community is full of promise.
