Petrol vs. Electric Drag Race: Audi RS 6 vs. Tesla Model 3 Performance

While the rivalry may not be age-old, petrol vs. electric is one that has taken the front seat with authority these last few years. Given we’re less than 48 hours out from the launch of the new Audi e-tron GT, we’ve stumbled across this video to remind us that Audi’s current product offering also sports some of the best internal combustion cars on the market as well.

With the immediate torque of an electric motor and no need for anything like spooling up a turbocharger, electric cars like the Tesla would seem to have an unfair advantage. Consider the published numbers and the discrepancy continues. With 591 hp and 590 lb-ft, the RS 6 Avant (like the one we’re giving away in our Audi Club RS 6 Avant Sweepstakes) is said to do 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds. For comparison’s sake, the Model 3 Performance shown here can reportedly do the same run in 3.3 seconds.

So what happens when TV commentator and motoring journalist Tiff Needell squares off in an RS 6 Avant against a Model 3 Performance? Watch below.
