Latest Spy Shots Reveal Audi A2 e-tron Interior

Audi A2 e-tron

We have spotted the upcoming Audi A2 e-tron before, but this is our first chance to see the interior. Unsurprisingly, the new all-electric SUV appears to share much of the same interior design as the new Q3. Right down to the somewhat controversial gear selector stalk.

The all-new Audi A2 e-tron was spotted while doing some cold weather testing. That includes some cold weather towing as the compact SUV was spied with a trailer attached. If you zoom in on the interior picture you can see that the temperature was just above freezing and the battery is showing a 50 percent charge. It also shows a remaining range of 238 kilometers or roughly 148 miles.

It would be easy to assume that would mean the new A2 e-tron would have a range of 476 kilometers or roughly 296 miles. But that may be misleading. There are many things that can affect the range of an EV. Cold weather and towing a load would certainly impact overall range. So do road conditions and driving style. We don’t know if the tester was hypermiling or flooring the throttle at every opportunity. Still, given the apparent test conditions, it seems like the A2 e-tron will offer a solid driving range on a single charge.

We expect the A2 e-tron to offer battery options that align with the Volkswagen ID.3. That vehicle offers a choice of a 52-kWh, 59-kWh or 79-kWh battery. Range on the WLTP cycle is between 240 and 369 miles depending on the battery size. Given the information we see on the test mule screen, we suspect it is equipped with the larger battery.

The exterior doesn’t reveal much more than we saw in previous spy photos. The exception is that this car is not wearing the aero covers on the wheels. As a result, we can see the rear drum brake setup on the A2.

The compact A2 e-tron is unlikely to make it to America. We don’t get the VW ID.3 here so getting the A2 would be a surprise. However, we never officially got the original Audi A2 either, but that hasn’t kept it from earning its fair share of fans here.
