Lane Motor Museum Showcases Early Auto Union Classics

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville TN, a destination that I had on my list for a long time. The experience did not disappoint, with numerous cars spread throughout the museum floor from various decades and manufactures, some of which I have never heard of!

Most interesting to me were three rarely seen early Auto Union vehicles they had on display, my favorite of which was this low production Auto Union 1000 Sp. This vehicle was famous for its Ford Thunderbird inspired styling. Despite the link to the V8 Thunderbird, the 1000 Sp featured a three cylinder engine!

Placed right next to it was a bright yellow example of the less sporting body style, known simply as the Auto Union 1000 Coupe. Another three cylinder powered vehicle, and one of the final Auto Union badged models offered before the merger with NSU.

Later on, I discovered some additional vehicles in the museum’s garage which included this DKW Munga, a quirky off road vehicle with military intended use that eventually spawned a civilian version.
