Audi Club displayed a special 2018 S5 Sportback in its stand at last weekend’s Oktoberfest event in Seven Springs, PA just outside of Pittsburgh and produced by Next Level Tuning. The S5 belongs to Audi Accessories and is utilized to showcase new parts available for the American market and also to test fit other parts being considered. The car garnered a few questions on our social channels and so we wanted to take a closer look.
This may not be the first time our members have seen this particular S5 Sportback. It was initially saw duty without accessories or black optics as part of the Audi car show fleet. We used the car last spring for a drive from Audi headquarters to the Amelia Island Concours last spring, and finally it has found its way into the Audi Accessories fleet where it’s been fitted with some parts already available to Audi owners now at dealers, and some more that are either being considered or are even in prototype phase.
S5 enthusiasts were the first to point out that black optics weren’t available in 2018. This car has been converted to that, including black trim around the windows and a black optics grille. It also wears already available carbon fiber parts including the mirror caps and rear decklid spoiler. Completing the black optic look are prototype carbon fiber parts being considered for the US market, which include a rear diffusor around the exhaust, side sill blades, front lower fascia trim and even the singleframe grille surround.
Another notable change are 20-inch wheels available in Europe for the S5 Sportback. These titanium finish wheels, also available with matte black centers in Europe, are a modern interpretation of the popular rotor wheel design offered on cars like the previous RS 5 coupe.
