GT World Challenge Australia: Holdworth and Cini Team Up at Sandown Raceway

Sportscar365.com reports that Lee Holdsworth and Marc Cini will drive the Hallmarc-backed Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II in the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS race at Sandown Raceway. The pair will compete in the Pro-Am category. This will be the first time the drivers will race together outside of the Bathurst enduro.

Holdsworth knows the car, but he has never competed in the GT World Challenge Australia before. “I’ve done the Bathurst 12 Hour every year since 2016 with Marc Cini and Dean Fiore in the Audi, so I’m familiar with the car, but it’s my first appearance in the GT World Challenge Australia and I’ve never raced a GT car at Sandown, so I am excited,” said Holdsworth.

Cini is looking forward to racing with his enduro partner again. “We’re good friends and we know each other very well. And we fit in the same seat, which is always good. I am also excited to run in the Audi, as it’s a lovely car to drive,” said Cini.

Since the pair has not raced together outside of the 12-hour enduro, they are not sure what to expect in the Pro-Am race at Sandown. But these are two very talented drivers, and it is never wise to bet against the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II. The Melbourne Performance Centre Audi is currently second in the GT World Challenge Australia standings.
