The GT America powered by AWS championship is gearing up for another weekend of action as the penultimate event in Birmingham, Alabama approaches. The series is heading to Barber Motorsports Park for rounds thirteen and fourteen. From September 6th to 8th, competitors across the SRO3 and GT4 classes will battle for crucial points on the challenging 2.38-mile, 17-turn circuit.

While enjoying everything the Magic City has to offer, fans can also immerse themselves in an open paddock atmosphere, with activities including autograph sessions, local vendors, a Car Corral, and the pre-race grid walk for Sunday’s featured Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race.

SRO3 Class

Johnny O’Connell continues to hold the top spot in the SRO3 class championship with his No. 3 SKI Autosport Audi R8 LMS GT3, scoring two consecutive third-place finishes at Road America, which enabled him to stay ahead of the next-closest contender Jason Daskalos in the No. 27 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

However, Justin Rothberg has inserted himself into the conversation as well. After taking the Race 1 victory with his No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3, coupled with a second-place result in Race 2, he is now within striking distance in the points.

Comparatively, Kyle Washington is charging towards the top 5 on the leaderboard in the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R. Tim Savage showed more consistency as well in the No. 007 ProSport Competition Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO.

Meanwhile, Jason Bell and Ross Chouest will be eager to capitalize on new opportunities at Barber Motorsports Park, returning to the grid in their respective No. 2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVO and No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

GT4 Class

GT4 leader Isaac Sherman picked up yet another win in his No. 098 Rotek Racing Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, bringing his total tally thus far to nine victories. Coming into the next two rounds, he has an opportunity to clinch the championship title. However, Curt Swearingin, who has accumulated three wins and six podiums of his own in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS CS, will be aiming to prevent that outcome.

Gray Newell retained third in the standings with his No. 25 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, adding a further two top three finishes to his name at the previous event at Road America.

Todd Parriott scored his first podium of the season in the No. 31 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 with a third-place result in Race 2, treating crowds to an exciting battle with Nicholas Shanny in the No. 21 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M4 GT4 G82.

Finally, Alan Grossberg will return to the GT4 class once again after previously making his debut in the No. 102 TPC Racing McLaren Artura GT4.
