Several members of the Golden Gate Chapter participated in the annual Audi SLO Summer Drive held on Saturday, July 8, and what fun we had! The event is held in San Luis Obispo County during the summertime to reunite Audi owners from all over California. Audi Gruppe Silicon Valley (AGSV) hosts the event in collaboration with Audi groups from Northern and Southern California. This year was the 5th annual SLO Drive, it was held at Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles.
The SLO Summer Drive event started as a conversation between the admin groups of Northern California and Southern California in an attempt to combine all of California’s Audi enthusiasts into one big Audi meet. This tradition began in 2018 when the event was held at SLO Brew for the first two years. Approximately 150 Audis showed up in 2018 and 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the SLO Summer Drive was postponed. In 2021 the SLO Drive was hosted at Estrella Warbird Museum in Paso Robles, despite the COVID-19 break the event drew 223 Audis maxing out the runway space at the museum. In 2022, the event was held at Bang the Drum Brewery in San Luis Obispo with 190 plus Audis.
This year’s event had 200 plus Audis in attendance. The Northern California Audi owners met in Morgan Hill, the Southern California group departed from Corona; both groups leaving in the early morning. At the Firestone Brewing Company, attendees were able to chat over drinks and delicious food and enjoy live music by veteran AGSV resident DJ Jose Galvin. Per tradition, custom SLO Drive T-shirts and SWAG bags (key chain, sticker, drive poster) designed in house, were available for purchase.
The California Audi community has always been strong and as this event grows, the tightknit network of Audi enthusiasts will only continue to grow and expand. Participating Audi clubs included Sacramento Audi Club, Nor-Cal Audi Club, Audi Club Golden Gate, Central Coast Audi Club, Audi Club Inland Empire, SoCal Quattro, San Diego Audi Club, Audi Group Los Angeles, Audi Grüp Orange County and Audizine.
