As we start the New Year, we continue to work to get back to normal. We will be starting off in Daytona and Fort Myers. Our Board of Directors Luncheon may be different; we may not be able to assemble in a group. We may have to use the tables as set by the establishment. Our priority is keeping you safe when participating in events representing or promoting the club. Audi Club Florida is not willing to put anyone at risk. While welcomed to these venues, please remember we are guests of the establishment or promoter and respect the rules they have. ACFL is recommending obeying the most up to date guidelines and orders issued by the regions and governor concerning events.
Roar before the 24
In a change to the schedule, the Roar Before the Rolex 24 preseason test sessions will be held the week before the Rolex 24 on Jan. 22-24, 2021 (the Roar usually takes place three weeks earlier than the race).
After the test, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams will remain at the track in the days leading into the race, taking part in “fan-focused events” around the 59th annual 24-hour endurance race at Daytona International Speedway that opens the season to the sports car circuit.
I am scheduling a Board of Directors Luncheon in Daytona on Saturday the 23rd. Most likely, it will be at the same venue as last year, Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet, 1320 W International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32114, if they can open back up to serve the buffet. If not, we will go to the Red Lobster 2625 W International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. We will enter whichever restaurant at 11:00 am if you prefer to meet us there. We will summarize 2020, brief 2021 plans, and roll out to the track afterward. Bring your masks and ear plugs.
Euro Tripper 8
Euro Tripper is a go. Since we have the Platinum Coast Region there to support in the area, ACFL will be there again. It will be on February 13th. It is a fundraiser for Brookes Legacy Animal Rescue in Naples; FL. Purchase Tickets from https://www.ticketleap.com/. No sales of tickets will be conducted at the gate; each car will be required to have a ticket to enter. Guests/passengers are free; however, ticketholder is responsible to ensure their passengers also are following Covid guidelines. Masks will be required at the event.
In the meantime, feel free to organize activities with your Audi owning friends and enjoy your wheels, have some social interaction, following the state and local guidelines when in public, and as well in private. Protect yourself.
ACFL still suggests using an antibacterial wipe, a disposable protective glove, a plastic t-shirt bag, or a dog poop bag as a barrier while using the fuel pumps to avoid potential exposure and dispose of it after fueling. Be careful out there and protect your health. #FlattenTheCurve

As we continue this year, we are currently looking for leadership in the following area:
Gator Region – Gainesville Area
Thomas Brinkmann, the General Manager, is ready to work with a representative to establish the region. If you are up to the challenge, let me know.
Many people have emailed me personally and through the national office to find out why there is not something in their area. I tell them assistance is required to help get things going locally. We desire to unite the state and have events within an hour’s drive of your location, at least quarterly. We are looking for some people who have the ambition to lead and desire to start something long term, helping arrange places to meet for lunch, activities, attend local car shows and coffee events, and other social activities. If you would like to volunteer and help organize a successful regional club, please contact me for details, and we will discuss making it happen. If you want to get active to help your region with ideas and help assist with and organize events, the regional leadership and I would love to have your help. This club is for you, so help us make it work for you.

The First Coast Region will be attending the Roar Before the 24. A group cruise down, along with a luncheon prior to hitting the track is planned. A departure from Starbucks 14560 Old St Augustine Rd #2, Jacksonville, FL 32258 at 9:30 AM will occur, so arrive gassed up and ready to go.

Every so often I hear from a long time member and recently I heard from Bob Brickman whom a number of you may know and remember his beautiful bespoke 2013 red Audi TTRS. Well now with only 5100 miles on the clock that TTRS is for sale. This car has not even been broken in yet. Emerald Coast Region – Panhandle
Emerald Coast Region-ACFL wrapped up 2020 safely and in style. We are very fortunate to live in an area that the weather permits us to attend events that are held outside and within the CDC guidelines. December started out great with a fun event hosted by Emerald Coast Exotics. It was a Fundraiser for The Intrepid Fallen Hero’s that was a great charity event for an even greater cause. The following weekend, we were able to get a small group together for a photoshoot with one of our favorite photographers @bgvmedia and the results were epic. Be on the lookout for some of his amazing pix of some of our member’s gorgeous cars on Instagram and Facebook. We closed out the month with a second visit to Destin’s Show and Shine that did not disappoint. We will be adding it to the regular schedule as it is great to see the East side of our region to be able to participate again. We got to swing by Audi Pensacola that evening to make Toys for Tots donations on our way to Pensacola C&C’s first night event at Detail Garage. Really appreciate everyone that donated to both charity events! You are all amazing Audi Club members!

1/10: Crestview C&C has secured a new venue and is switching the date to Sunday! It will be held at the Crestview Community Center, 9 am-12 pm
1/16: Destin’s Show and Shine at Hooters, 9 am-12 pm
1/16: Headlights and Horsepower in the Office Depot parking lot in Gulf Breeze, 6 pm-8 pm
1/23: Pensacola’s C&C at Detail Garage with a new showtime of 9 am-11 am
1/22-1/24: The Roar before the 24 in Daytona with ACFL (Please let me know if you are interested in attending)
Down the road… Mobile Bay’s C&C is on tap for February 13th and our third annual Britton Hill Run is set for March 8th.
Our @emeraldcoastaudiclub Instagram page keeps going strong! Really appreciate Jeremy Chavez’s contributions and help. Again, the storm has had an impact on our posting and content. Appreciate all the other Audi Club Groups that have continued to tag and support us despite our inactivity. If anyone in our region is interested in becoming a part of ECR’s IG group please reach out to me.
On a personal note, I’d like to express my deepest appreciation for everyone’s support in ACNA’s BoD election. I am blessed to be a part of such an amazing Audi Club Family. I look forward to serving and representing you all. Thank you!

Down the road:
Unfortunately, we will not be able to have our fall run due to the challenges this year’s hurricane season. Instead, we will focus our attention to our 3rd annual Britton Hill Run set for March 8th.
We will have a full calendar of events for Q1 posted soon. Plan on representation at all the regional C&C’s and local car events. Mark your calendars and make plans now to attend The Roar Before the 24 in Daytona on January 22-24. It will be a fun trip to and a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow ACFL members.

Platinum Coast Region (Sarasota to Naples)
Due to the local spike in COVID-19 cases, we had to postpone our Apple Strudel/Christmas lights tour until December of 2021, but that did give us a bit of a rest for a very busy couple of months ahead. We are still on schedule for our Cars and Coffee event at the Naples dealership (601 Airport Road, Naples—34104) on Saturday, January 16th. A slight change in time as we will meet at 10:00 am for our coffee and doughnuts; tech talk; and social time. Then our mystery drive to lunch in the area (sort of), please jot it down on your calendar. Hope to see all our Snowbirds as well as our usual great core group. We will have a lot more details about all our February events at that time.
Speaking of February, put a big red circle around Saturday, the 6th of February. That is the “Cars on 5th” event sponsored by the Ferrari Club of Naples. We hope to have a nice selection of rings to attend this premier car show. Lots of hot wheels from various brands just waiting to be drooled over. Of course, there will be concessions, displays, and just some great car talk. The Euro Tripper event at Jet Blue Park in Fort Myers is now set to happen on Saturday, February 13th. This will be a big event involving all types of European cars. Audi is planning a big presence and of course, that is our backyard, so The Platinum Coast is set to help pull off this event and make a big splash with the help of our fellow Florida Audi Club members.
And in case your February calendar wasn’t full enough… our Solomon’s Castle tour is now officially on the calendar for Saturday, February 20th. We will be cruising over from the Sarasota Dealership (4900 Clark Rd.—34233) provided the Covid 19 levels are in control; if not we will rendezvous at the University Mall in Sarasota for the driver meeting and cruise into the wilds of central Florida. After our tours, we will have lunch at the restaurant in the boat in the moat on the Castle grounds.
