Find of the Day: Volkswagen DoKa with an Audi 4.2 V8

words: Bill, photos: Autohaus-Vorlander

Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love the Volkswagen DoKa and adore the Audi 4.2 V8 so when I stumbled across this, I almost…fainted. I spent a lot of time behind the wheel of Audi of America’s fully restored 1984 Volkswagen Audi collection DoKa. It was a ground up restoration including the original 1.9 four cylinder with @ 83hp. Driving that DoKa though the mountains of California was exciting to say the least. Add the aerodynamics of a cliff wall and let’s say it wasn’t exactly fast. Enter the beast. Stunning and apparently not an uncommon conversion as I’ve found several VW DoKa V8s. I may have found this one in action though I’m not certain:

and then there’s this one though I’m not sure it’s the same DoKa because of the rear side windows:

Anyway, you definitely won’t find this at your local Cars and Coffee here. DoKas are very scarce in the States and to have one with an Audi 4.2? Yeah…center of attention. Located in Germany for €49,980 ($60,168), you can be the envy and surprise of the interstates. You can find the beast DoKa HERE
