Find of the Day: Vintage 1988 Audi Quattro Transformed into a Group 4 Rally Beast

1988 Audi Quattro

This is it folks. Break open the piggy bank, search the couch cushions, raid your kids’ college fund.  Do whatever you have to do in order to win this Group 4-Style, AAN-Powered 1988 Audi Quattro listed on Bring a Trailer.

This car is a bit of a Hodge-podge. It is not an original Group 4 rally car, but that makes it even better. You can go out and have some fun in this beast and not worry about damaging a precious heirloom. Starting in 2017 the seller began to convert this car from a 1988 Audi quattro into a rally car and based on the amount of drool on my keyboard right now, the seller did a heck of a job.

Highlights include a 2.2-liter, 20-valve AAN inline-five engine linked to a five-speed manual transaxle with a billet shifter that was built with forged connecting rods. There is a Garrett GTX Gen 2 turbocharger, an RS2 exhaust manifold, a VEMS Motronic ECU, a custom front-mounted intercooler, a Ron Davis aluminum radiator, and a Milltek Sport stainless-steel exhaust system.

The car rolls on 16-inch Braid wheels and has Verkline subframes, adjustable coilovers, and tubular control arms. The body features a carbon-Kevlar roof panel, a Group 4-style raised spoiler, an aluminum grille, Bosch Rallye driving lights, and polycarbonate side windows. It is all covered in white with red, silver, and brown Audi Sport livery used by Michelle Mouton in the 1982 Acropolis Rally win.

Inside you will be greeted by pair of OMP Racing seats, a Works-style dash panel, a Halda Rally Computer-E system, and Sparco drilled aluminum pedals and footrests.

Are you still not convinced this is the car for you? The auction also includes 15-inch Braid wheels and Federally G-10 tires, an Audi Sport-branded Bell helmet, build records, and a New York title. As you can see from the build records, no expense was spared.

Punxsutawney Phil has predicted six more weeks of winter. Dominate it in this incredible rally machine. Bidding ends on Tuesday, February 10.
