Find of the Day: This 605-HP Audi RS 7 Was Built for SEMA

The Audi RS 7 has never exactly been a subtle car. With a twin-turbo V8, quattro all-wheel drive, and supercar-rivaling performance wrapped in a practical five-door body, the C7 RS 7 already makes quite a statement. But sometimes that isn’t enough. Currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer is this 2017 Audi RS 7 Performance, which was modified by FLO Airride Mfg. for display at the 2017 SEMA Show. The car is finished in Mythos Black Metallic and has traveled approximately 40,000 miles.

The Performance designation is important. Under the hood sits Audi’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, factory rated at 605 horsepower and up to 553 lb-ft of torque with overboost. Power reaches all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic and quattro system featuring a sport torque-vectoring rear differential.

Modifications

Then FLO Airride went to work. The most obvious modification is an Air Lift Performance height-adjustable suspension, allowing this RS 7 to drop considerably closer to the pavement when parked. It rides on 21-inch HRE Performance S101 forged wheels wrapped in 275/30 Hankook tires. A Milltek Sport cat-back exhaust provides a more appropriate soundtrack for the twin-turbo V8.

The SEMA treatment continues in the cargo area, where the air-suspension components are displayed in a custom LED-lit enclosure. There’s even an articulating display that folds into the cargo floor. Carbon-fiber exterior accents and Audi’s ceramic-composite brakes complete the look.

Loaded With Options

Thankfully, this RS 7 wasn’t ordered as a stripped-down performance special before receiving its show-car makeover. The cabin features Valcona leather, Alcantara inserts, Mercato Blue stitching, blue carbon-twill trim, and a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system. There’s also a head-up display, Night Vision Assistant, adaptive cruise control, active lane assist, and a corner-view camera system.

There are a few things prospective bidders should know. The seller says one turbocharger was previously replaced under warranty, while a rear oxygen sensor was replaced in 2022. The Carfax shows no accidents or other reported damage, although the listing notes at least one open recall. More significantly for California buyers, the RS 7 has not passed a California smog test and is currently unregistered, so back registration fees may be due.

Modified cars aren’t for everyone, but this isn’t another RS 7 wearing a set of aftermarket wheels. It’s a 605-hp Performance model that was actually built for SEMA, and nearly a decade later, it still knows how to attract attention. Bidding ends on Monday, August 31.
