I reached out to the current owner, Hank, and he was kind enough to send me the following information:

This car was built by Champion Racing of Pompano Beach Florida for the SCCA Speed World Challenge Series. It was going to be driven by Michael Gallotti who was Champions driver on previous generations of their RS4s in the series. In 2008 Audi pulled out of racing in North America and basically closed up the racing shop including the LMP cars that ran in IMSA .

This car is the only one built serial Champion 001 and never raced. My brother and I bought the car in Jan 2009 for the purpose of hobby racing in regional level racing in Canada.

The workmanship on the car which was built ground up by Champion is perfection no budget limit. The doors and rear deck lid are carbon fibre, not fiberglass and we have the moulds which would come with the car.

Since the car was never raced it took some time to get it set up for the track which we did through BestLine Racing and we have done around 12 regionals since. Bestline looks after the car along with several pro Porsche Cup car teams. The car runs in GT3 times around the 131 mark at Mosport.

The 4.2 engine had a complete rebuild by Competition Auto and has 3 hours on it. We had custom wheels made which gives us two sets.. The graphics have be changed over the years so when you see different schemes its still the same car. Other changes have been made eg dry break installed, custom rad, fuel cell mods, new quattro torsen favouring torque the rear. We have the software for the Motec.

The reason we are selling the car is we have purchased a factory Audi TCR RS 3.

Hank and his brother aren’t Walter Mitty but they are living the real life of his fantasies. Selling this to get a factory TCR RS 3…my goodness. If you are interested in this, you can find it on our Audi Club Classifieds page on Facebook HERE. Just make sure W. Mitty is listed as a driver.
