Find of the Day: 2003 Daytona Grey Audi RS 6

words: Bill, photos: Speedärt Motorsports

With the start of our weekly Find of the Day video episodes, I thought it would hard for me to find an Audi that I can just use for the website but I didn’t have to worry; there are so many great ones out. Take this Daytona Grey RS 6 at Speedärt Motorsports in Miami for example. While searching for my three picks for this week’s episode, I ran across this and knew I couldn’t wait until Friday…it’s just that nice. Here’s the ad:

Speedart Motorsports is presenting this unmolested single owner specimen in an all original, spectacular form the way it left the factory at Neckarsulm. The only addition has been an integrated Valentine 1 radar detector & laser jammer with visual indicators professionally etched on the rear view mirror in a stealth manner.

Maintenance records from new are included in the sale and show recent service including replacement of the MAF and oil cooler in March 2018.

Flawless factory 18″ 9-spoke alloy wheels are currently mounted and wear brand new Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position tires. For the individualist, a set of model specific 18″ AT Italia wheels with Michelin winter tires are also included in the sale.

Although the RS 6 came superbly equipped from the factory deserving Audi’s flagship status the following options were offered and are part of this example’s Kardex.

Carbon Fiber Fascia and Door Trim Inserts Sound Enhancing Exhaust System with Black Tips Audi Navigation System

Full dealer maintenance records are included with a list of notable service intervals noted below:

  • December 2009 @ 36,066 miles – all four DRC shocks replaced under warranty
  • August 2010 @ 37,434 miles – timing belt service completed, MMI head unit replaced
  • October 2017 @ 64,587 miles – torque converter replaced by Audi of Fairfield

Further to the previous owner’s meticulous maintenance and upon arrival at Speedart Motorsports, a full systems check with a brake service was performed including new front OEM rotors and all around braking pads.

These wuendercars are rare but sourcing one in this impossibly fresh condition proved to us a very daunting task. We welcome a close inspection and demonstration of this iconic Audi from an era that the RS badge was highly coveted and most probably destined to reach unobtainium status in the near future.

The motorcar is accompanied by spare keys, all books and manuals, original window sticker and ample documentation as well as an impeccable CarFax report supporting its unquestionable provenance.

One owner, all stock (with the exception of the V1), maintenance records…you see why I couldn’t wait? I reached out to Speedärt Motorsports and James Hondros, CEO, responded himself. James raced as a championship driver on the European circuits as a very young age. He’s also an authority on vintage and modern sports cars and motorcycles so he knows quality when he sees it. He also informed me that another very desirable Audi will be coming to their showroom so keep an eye out for it in a future Find of the Day. Special thanks and a shout out to James for the speedy response and heads up. You can find this beautiful Daytona Grey RS 6 HERE.
