The D2 A8 was the 1st mass-produced vehicle with an all aluminum monocoque (Audi Space Frame). The Audi Space Frame Concept was revealed at the 1993 Frankfurt Motor Show and the production model at the 1994 Geneva Auto Show though it wasn’t until the 1997 model year the the A8 was launched in the North American market. They were offered in both the A8 (standard wheelbase) and the A8L (long wheelbase) models.
2Bennett Audimotive in Davis, CA has been around for a long time and is well known in the Audi enthusiast world. Not only do they perform routine service work, they offer rare and/or used Audi parts, and also do restorations and builds. This model is an A8L with parts from an S8. Here’s the ad:

2003 Audi A8L is a long wheelbase sedan that has been extensively refurbished and modified by 2Bennett Audimotive of Davis, California. The car spent time in Arizona with its first two owners and was acquired by the current owner out of Paso Robles, California approximately 4k miles ago in 2016. Details of the cosmetic and mechanical refresh are provided below, and work was completed in late 2017. A repaint was performed and new exterior trim installed, and the 4.2L V8 was refreshed with new Audi Short Block and Audi reman heads, seals, and gaskets. A new Tiptronic transmission, 2Bennett brakes, Bilstein shocks, and lowering springs were also added, as were the front seats, exhaust components, and steering wheel from an Audi S8. The car is now being offered for sale on the current owner’s behalf by 2Bennett Audimotive with records from the work shown below, a clean Carfax, and a clear California title.
The body was repainted earlier this year and a protective clear bra was added. Work also included the installation of new headlight, taillight, and fog lamp assemblies, as well as fresh trim, emblems, a new windshield, and rubber seals. Tint has been applied to the windows, which also received new regulators.
New 18” Avus Silver Audi S8 Avus wheels are wrapped in new Michelin Pilot Sport 245/45 rubber. 2Bennett Stage2 RS front brakes feature 8-piston Brembo calipers and two-piece 365mm rotors, and the Stage2 rear brake kit is equipped with vented 311mm rotors. The front Bilstein shocks are adjustable, and H&R Sport lowering springs have been installed. Factory new Downpipes with cats from an Audi S8 are linked to a Romulus rear exhaust.
Partially-reupholstered front seats and a black suede headliner have been installed. Woodgrain trim is said to be in good condition, and a new 3-spoke steering wheel from an Audi S8 and a Pioneer display screen with navigation was fitted. A new A/C compressor, receiver/drier, and condenser were additionally installed. Just under 94k miles are shown on the digital odometer, approximately 2k of which were added during the current ownership.
The 4.2L V8 was rated at 335 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque when new. Engine-out maintenance performed by 2Bennett included the installation of new seals gaskets, a rebuilt cooling system, ignition system and knock sensors, and a new Tiptronic transmission. The timing belt, water pump, cam chain tensioners, and power steering pump were replaced, and a detailed breakdown of the work can be viewed on the receipts provided in the gallery.

The clean Carfax report lists no issues and shows history in Arizona and California.
