Elegend from Beilngries has announced the construction of 30 handmade EL1 for next year. The 4.16 meter short electric super sports car is visually and proportionally consciously based on the Audi Sport Quattro S1 from the 1980s. The monocoque of the Elegend EL1 is made of carbon, the subframes for service and maintenance work are made of aluminum.

Compared to the study presented two years ago, the design of the prototype now presented was refined. For example, there are newly developed recessed grips and, for reasons of approval in the USA, also exterior mirrors. Furthermore, the two side doors of the two-seater can be opened wide, as well as the tailgate with the integrated C-pillar. In design, the glass roof stands out in the form of a flowing NACA air inlet. On board are air conditioning, reversing camera and parking sensors as well as hard seats. Individual elements of the interior are made of visible carbon.

Two electric motors with a total power of up to 600 kW (816 hp) transfer the power to all four wheels. From zero to 100 km/h, the EL1 sprints to 100 km/h in around 2.8 seconds, up to 200 km/h 7.5 seconds pass after the start. At the market launch, Elegend is planning a maximum speed of 300 km/h. The chassis is adjustable in three stages.

The battery has a net capacity of 80 kWh. The Bavarian manufactory gives almost 400 kilometers as a range and promises that with one battery charge “two hot laps on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife at race pace” can be covered without loss of performance.

The price of an Elegend EL1 is 890,000 euros plus VAT. If everything goes well, the company can imagine designing two more automotive icons of the same type in modern coach building – also with a limitation of 30 vehicles.
