Electrify Canada Expands Hyper-Fast Charging in Alberta with Three New Charging Stations

New locations in Lethbridge, Red Deer and Edmonton feature Next-Generation Chargers

Ajax, ON – Electrify Canada announced today the opening of two new charging stations and one coming soon in Alberta, providing electric vehicle drivers with hyper-fast charging solutions.  Located in convenient locations and near amenities, the charging stations in Lethbridge, Red Deer and Edmonton featuring six next-generation Direct Current (DC) fast chargers with solar canopies at Lethbridge and Red Deer.

“Expansion in the province of Alberta underscores Electrify Canada’s commitment to be a catalyst for zero-emission vehicles by providing DC fast charging solutions,” said Ben Moore, senior manager, site development & construction at Electrify Canada and Electrify America. “The new charging stations help to meet the growing customer need while providing routes to and from Calgary, Alberta’s largest city.”

Building on Electrify Canada’s existing Alberta charging stations in Canmore and Calgary, the new charging stations help establish a route north from Calgary to the provincial capital in Edmonton, stopping in Red Deer, and south from Calgary to Lethbridge. Once open in Edmonton, Electrify Canada will serve each of the province’s four largest cities.

New Electrify Canada locations in Alberta:

  • Lethbridge, Save-On-Foods, 401 Highlands Boulevard West
  • Red Deer, Save-On-Foods, 6720 52nd Avenue
  • Edmonton, Canadian Tire, 6014 Current Drive NW – coming soon

Functional features of the Next-Generation chargers include a smaller footprint, a recessed and brighter HMI (human-machine interface) screen and new cable management system offering an enhanced and simplified charging experience.   New solar awnings will provide shade and shelter, capturing energy to power the canopy lighting.  Customers can manage their charging session with the user-friendly Electrify Canada mobile app enabling contactless payment and session tracking on their smartphone. In addition, customers can also pay by credit card at the charging station and will have access to Electrify Canada’s 24-hour Customer Contact Center.

The Electrify Canada network now operates in five provinces – Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan – with plans to expand to seven provinces by the end of 2024.  Additionally, it is the first open DC fast charging network to offer Plug & Charge technology to capable vehicles. As part of the company’s commitment to broaden charging solutions for EV drivers today and in the future, Electrify Canada recently announced it will add the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector to its fast charging network.
