words: Bill, photos: Audi Wyoming Valley Back in 2021, the Audi Club Sweepstakes gave away the most sought-after enthusiast vehicle to come out of Audi in a long time. It was also the most expensive prize ever given away from the sweepstakes. After nine months of promotional giveaways and anticipation, the winner was chosen- Al Nuener from the Eastern Pennsylvania chapter. But that’s not the end of the story. Audi Club not only gave away a 2022 Audi RS 6 Avant, Audi exclusive paint of the winner’s choice from the Audi USA order guide was part of the deal along with Audi Genuine Accessories, Thule roof rack and cargo box, Griot’s Garage detailing kit, and camping gear from Mountain Hardwear. Al chose Florett Silver over a Cognac interior. People are wondering why Al chose Florett Silver since the prize included an Audi exclusive paint credit. Well, ordering an exclusive color would have added weeks if not months to delivery plus Al likes a sleeper. In Al’s own words: Silver is the classic Audi racing color and I like the heritage tie as well as how it accents the lines of the car. I don’t need a loud color that screams “look at me”. We totally agree.
But once again, that’s not the end of the story. The automotive world has been suffering from worldwide shortages and the sweepstake RS 6’s production date was up in the air but with some great help from Audi of America, the date was pushed up and Al’s car soon made its way down the assembly line. Delivery date was scheduled for sometime in February. Al and Audi Wyoming Valley got word that it was on a ship and headed over. Then word started spreading that a car carrier headed to the States full of Volkswagen Group vehicles, including Audi, was on fire and adrift in the Atlantic. Was Al’s car on the Felicity Ace?
It was soon confirmed that Al’s RS 6 Avant was not on the Felicity Ace and in fact, was already safe in harbor. A collective sigh of relief swept through the Audi Club office and Audi Wyoming Valley. I’m pretty sure Al was relieved also. Yesterday was the big day as Al and his wife picked up their 2022 Audi exclusive RS 6 Avant and we have these photos of the event. And if don’t know yet, Audi Club’s 2022 Spring Sweepstakes is giving away a 1985 Audi quattro which also happens to be Florett Silver. And until Sunday, February 27th, for every purchase of entries, you will receive a red Audi quattro sticker as a way for us to say thank you.
