Audi’s Next A3 e-tron to be Built on MEB Platform Alongside VW ID.3 and Cupra Born
Auto Express reports that Audi is gearing up to introduce an all-electric alternative to the A3 next year, aimed at the compact C-segment. Built on an updated version of the MEB platform, the same used for the Volkswagen ID.3 and Cupra Born, this new EV will be produced in Ingolstadt and promises to deliver a smaller, more affordable entry point to Audi’s growing electric lineup.
While official specs haven’t been confirmed, it’s expected the new EV will offer familiar MEB battery options (58kWh, 77kWh, or 79kWh) and feature a rear-mounted motor, with a dual-motor performance version possibly in the mix. Think of it as a smart, stylish EV with a compact footprint but true Audi refinement. Expect short overhangs, a high roofline, and a bold take on Audi’s current design language, though not yet influenced by the vision of Audi’s new design chief, Massimo Frascella.
For U.S. Audi fans, the big question is whether this model will make it stateside. While the Volkswagen ID.3 and Cupra Born sister models are not sold in America, Audi’s premium branding and growing EV presence in the U.S. make a stronger case for this compact EV’s arrival. If it does land here, it could become a compelling electric option for city drivers, first-time EV buyers, or anyone wanting an Audi-sized answer to the Tesla Model 3 and Volvo EX30.
