The F.A.T. Ice Race St. Moritz 2026 just wrapped up this past weekend and legendary Audi drivers and cars were on hand for the celebration.
It started with the first Porsche ice race on a frozen Lake Zell near Zell am See in Austria back in 1952. After decades of racing, the event stopped in 1974. 45 years later, Ferdi Porsche, great-grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of Porsche AG, brought ice racing back. The event continues to grow and at I.C.E. St. Moritz 2026 Audi brought out some big guns.
The event is a festival celebrating cars and their status in culture. Some of the rarest and most valuable cars in the world are taken out on the ice. But it is more than just racing. There is Skijöring and exhibitions showcasing rare and exotic cars.
Audi showed up with one of their most iconic cars, the Sport Quattro S1 E2. The car was originally piloted by Walter Röhrl. Röhrl was not at the event but two-time German rally champion Harald Demuth was, and he got the rally car out on the ice. So did ‘Mr. Le Mans’ Tom Kristensen.
If you think watching the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 being slid around the ice by a legendary racing driver sounds like fun, you are right. Fabio Becvar managed to secure a ride with Demuth, and he shared the experience on his Instagram page. What an incredible opportunity.
If you missed the St. Moritz event, don’t worry, you have another chance to watch this spectacle on ice. The next F.A.T. Ice Race is coming up at the end of this month in Big Sky, Montana. Tickets are still available. To get yours click HERE. Maybe you will be able to talk your way into a ride in a legendary Audi rally car. But even if you can’t seeing all of these incredible machines out on the ice is something you don’t want to miss.
