Audi Shows Why the Q4 e-tron Is Ready for Everyday Life

Audi is making the case that the Q4 e-tron is not just an electric SUV, but the kind of EV that can quietly fit into almost any part of daily life. To prove the point, Audi recently took the Q4 e-tron on a roughly 200-kilometer drive from central Munich to Tegernsee in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, mixing city traffic, rural roads, mountain curves, and everyday use moments along the way.

The trip began before sunrise in downtown Munich, where luggage and equipment were loaded into the Q4 e-tron before the route headed out past Marienplatz and Frauenkirche. A simple voice command, “Hey Audi, take us to Tegernsee” set the navigation, and the compact electric SUV was off into the city.

Inside, the Q4 e-tron showed why Audi continues to put so much emphasis on cabin design. Product specialist Herman Verbeek noted that everything feels logically arranged and free of distractions. That matters in a daily driver. An EV can have big numbers and clever features, but if the cabin feels fussy, the magic wears off quickly. The Q4 e-tron appears aimed at the opposite experience: calm, usable, and easy to live with.

As traffic built leaving Munich, the Q4 e-tron’s driver-assistance systems helped manage distance and lane keeping, while stop-and-go traffic became less stressful. Storage is another practical highlight, with 24 liters of space spread through the doors, center console, and under the armrests. There are also dual phone charging pads, which sounds minor until two people are fighting over one charger on a road trip.

Once the roads opened up outside the city, range anxiety apparently faded into the background. Audi says the upgraded Q4 e-tron offers up to 592 kilometers of range in Q4 Sportback e-tron performance form, and Verbeek said the car gives drivers the confidence to travel without constantly thinking about charging.

The Q4 e-tron also showed off one of its more useful new tricks, bidirectional charging. During a stop above the valley in Rosenheim, the vehicle served as a mobile power source for a small coffeemaker and a cooler through either the trunk socket or the external charging port.

The final stretch into the mountains gave the Q4 e-tron a chance to show a more dynamic side. With up to 250 kW and a 0–100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds, Audi says the electric SUV felt stable, precise, and confident on twisty roads.

That may be the real point of the Q4 e-tron. It is not trying to be outrageous. It is trying to be useful, comfortable, efficient, and still enjoyable when the road gets interesting. For many Audi buyers, that may be exactly the right formula.
