Audi RS 5 Sportback Facelift Spied

Today, spy photographers have caught site of the first facelift RS 5 Sportback test mule seen thus far. This’ll be the mid-lifecycle improvement of the current B9-generation RS 5, so known in enthusiast circles as the “B9.5”.

Many of the expected changes that will come with the B9/5 freshening have already been seen in the recently introduced B9/5 A4/S4 range. These include significant improvements in the in-car experience including touch screen MMI and more.

Unlike the A4/S4, updated B9.5 variants of the A5/S5 haven’t yet been seen, so final changes to styling details have to be gleaned from spy photos such as these.

Whether or not the RS 5 gets a power boost remains to be seen. It’s believed that U.S. versions of the S4/S5 will not get 48v electrics and an electric turbo added to their 3.0 TFSI single turbo engines. It remains to be seen whether such efficiency and performance tech will be seen on the RS versions with their 2.9-liter biturbo.
