Audi of America has closed the books on a challenging 2025 by releasing the year-end sales figures. Overall, Audi sold 164,942 new vehicles here in 2025. That is a decrease of 16 percent compared to 2024. However, there are some signs for optimism as we head into 2026 and beyond.
There is no way to sugar coat the fact that Audi sold 31,634 fewer vehicles in 2025 than in 2024. And Audi did not have a strong finish to the year with fourth quarter sales down by 36 percent compared to the same period in 2024. Only the Arizona Cardinals had a worse fourth quarter performance in 2025. However, while the season might be over for the Cardinals, Audi is still building and selling cars and there are some signs that could indicate a turnaround.
What Happened?
Some popular Audi models left the lineup in 2025. For example, in 2024 Audi sold over 7,000 A4 models but they cancelled the model and sales in 2025 totaled just over 500. The Q8 e-tron and Sportback e-tron combined for nearly 8,000 sales in 2024, but those models were also cancelled and fewer than 900 were sold last year.
The popular Q3 and Q5 models were down 27 and 19 percent respectively. Both models saw new generations arrive and some buyers may have held out for the new versions to appear in showrooms before buying. The same can be said for the Audi A5, which saw sales drop by 31 percent last year.
Positive Signs
On the other hand, new models like the Q6 e-tron saw very strong sales. Sales increased by 1,681 percent over 2024 as the vehicle was not available until late in 2024. But in 2025 Audi sold 17,207 Q6 e-trons making it the fourth best-selling model in the lineup, just behind the Q7. A7 and Q8 sales were both up by 5 percent in 2025.
2025 was a transition year for Audi. They are amid a massive push to introduce new products to their lineup. As a result, sales are impacted as production of the new models ramp up and the old models wind down. Tariffs, loss of EV tax incentives and the general change in adoption rates of EVs are additional headwinds facing Audi.
However, they are making moves to combat this. The new products seem promising, and the Audi Concept C is bringing excitement back to the brand. 2025 was a rough year, but there is reason for optimism in 2026 as Audi works hard to right the ship. We think once we see new vehicles like the Q9 hit the showroom floors, we will start to see the downward sales trend reverse itself.
