Audi India Discontinues RS 5 Sportback and A8 L Models

Audi India has officially removed the A8 L luxury sedan and the RS 5 Sportback from its lineup, marking the end of their sales in the region. Despite these departures, Audi India remains committed to its performance lineup, with the RS Q8 facelift recently launched for the market. Looking at Audi’s global lineup, these departures are expected given the recent introduction of the B10 generation A5 & S5, with a next generation RS 5 Sedan and Avant set to be revealed soon. The current generation A8 is also set to be updated in 2026 despite declining sales in 2024.

Audi A8 L

Launched in India in 2020, the fourth-generation A8 L flagship luxury sedan offered advanced technology and premium comfort, featuring options for both four and five-seat configurations. The 2022 facelift introduced enhancements like adaptive air suspension, Matrix LED headlights, and electrically adjustable rear seats with massage functionality. Under the hood, it housed a 3.0 liter TFSI V6 turbocharged engine delivering 335 horsepower, paired with quattro all-wheel drive for refined performance.

Audi RS 5 Sportback

The RS 5 Sportback, introduced in India in 2021, combined high performance with everyday usability featuring a 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 444 horsepower, mated to Audi’s quattro AWD system. Known for its sporty design and practicality, the RS 5 offered a spacious second row and a functional trunk, making it a versatile performance sedan. While it is now discontinued, Audi India continues to offer the S5 Sportback as an alternative in the segment, until the B10 generation S5 Sedan arrives to replace it.
