After showing encouraging pace but coming away empty-handed in recent races, the Audi Revolut F1 Team heads to Austria looking to finally turn performance into points. The Formula 1 circus returns to the picturesque Red Bull Ring in Spielberg this weekend for the Austrian Grand Prix, a track known for its stunning mountain backdrop and deceptively challenging layout. While the circuit is one of the shortest on the calendar, mistakes are costly and opportunities to recover lost time are limited.

For Audi Revolut F1 Team, Austria arrives at an important moment in the season. The team’s recent performances in Monaco and Barcelona demonstrated that the R26 has the pace to compete at the front of the midfield battle. Unfortunately, the results have not reflected that progress. Strong speed and promising race pace have yet to translate into the points finishes the team believes are within reach.

“We have seen encouraging signs in terms of performance and understanding the car in Monaco and Barcelona, even though we were not able to bring home the results our pace warranted,” said Racing Director Allan McNish. “Our goal is to keep moving forward, aiming to maximize everything we can extract on track.”

Driver Thoughts

Veteran driver Nico Hülkenberg echoed that optimism. While disappointed with the missed opportunity in Barcelona, Hülkenberg believes the team is moving in the right direction.

“We have the pace to fight for points, and it is a matter of time until we reap the rewards of our work,” said Hülkenberg. “What matters most is putting together a clean weekend overall.”

Gabriel Bortoleto is equally eager to get back on track. The Brazilian scored his first Formula 1 points at Spielberg last season and hopes to repeat that success this weekend. Bortoleto acknowledged the frustration of leaving points on the table recently but remains confident in the team’s trajectory.

Adding to the weekend’s storylines, reserve driver Paul Aron will make his second scheduled Free Practice appearance of the season, taking over Bortoleto’s car during Friday’s opening practice session.
