EKS Audi Sport is setting its sights on another podium result at its home round in the FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX) at Höljes, Sweden. After day one, Andreas Bakkerud in his 580-hp Audi S1 EKS RX quattro is in the runner-up position behind World Champion Johan Kristoffersson (Volkswagen) in second place. Mattias Ekström maintains position five overnight. The two Audi drivers met with each other in their two qualifying races on Saturday displaying good teamwork in the process: Each did his joker lap right after the start and afterwards they circled the track in formation flight. In their first race, they scored a one-two result with this strategy and in the second race positions three and four. “As always, Höljes is a totally crazy event and the racing there is tough,” said Andreas Bakkerud. “Because the track is so cool I have goose bumps all the time. Day one was good but in Q2 you could see that we’re still lacking a little bit compared to the leaders. I hope we can improve some more overnight.”
