Audi Discontinues A7 and S7 in America, RS 7 Survives

The A7 first arrived in the U.S. for the 2012 model year. However, according to a report by Road & Track, it will not be here for 2026. Audi is dropping the A7 and the S7 from the 2026 U.S. lineup. Thankfully the high-performance RS 7 will remain.

A statement provided to Road & Track by an Audi spokesperson confirmed the change in the lineup. “There is no 2026 Model Year A7 or S7 as the model shifts to the new A6 TFSI coming later this year,” the statement reads.

Audi sales have struggled in 2025, but the A7 has been a bright spot. Through the first half of the year sales of the sleek sedan are up 48 percent in the U.S. But even with the increase in sales, the A7 is not a volume leader for Audi. The company sold 1,094 A7 cars through June of this year. The A6 outsells it by three to one and the Q7 SUV outsells it by ten to one.

We first reported the departure of the A7 and S7 models a week ago when Audi announced their 2026 lineup. In their media release they said, “with the upcoming all-new A6 sedan debuting later this year to further represent Audi in the mid-size segment, the 2026 A7 model line will be embodied solely by the RS 7 performance.” However, that news may have been overlooked as it was included in the same press release about Audi Signature Care.

The RS 7 is going to be a carryover model for 2026. The only change is the addition of optional blue painted brake calipers. But the 621 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque from the 4.0L twin-turbo V8 remains to keep fans happy.

About a month ago we got some seat time in Audi’s all-new A6 Sportback e-tron and S6 Sportback e-tron models and came away thoroughly impressed. The gas-powered A6 TFSI version is what will be considered the direct A7 replacement. We are looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the models that run on Dino juice to see if they will make us forget all about the A7.
